International RC Car Championship report

International RC Car Championship report

The first annual IRCC (International RC Car Championship) took place at the meeting room of Chubu international airport (Centrair) with the race held on a specially made carpet track. A lot of top level Japanese drivers were there including current 1/12th electric world champion Naoto Mastukura, the ‘Legend’ Masami Hirosaka and many national champions. Masami announced his retirement in 2009 but he drove a Yokomo GT500 car and 1/10th touring as a guest driver. Although the organizer wanted the event to attract more international drivers, there was only one American driver present, mainly because of the earthquake in March and the current economic condition that makes the Japanese Yen very expensive. The famous Scotty Ernst, who is well known race announcer and director, entered as a competitor in the FWD class and he finished in 3rd position in the final. He also announced all A-finals except FWD class in which he drove the car. Seven categories of races were held, the biggest one is 1/12th scale which attracted 33 drivers. Naoto Matsukura won the race after a hard battle with Hideo Kitazawa. Masami won the 17.5T touring class, beating 2010 Japanese National champion Daisuke Yoshioka. This year’s IRCC was successful and the organizer promised to having the same event next summer on the same place. Foreign drivers (Asia, USA, Europe and more) are always welcomed.

Toni Rheinard wins 2nd North Cyprus Champions League Challenge

NorthCyprusChampionsLeagueChallenge

Last weekend the 2nd North Cyprus Champions League Challenge took place in the beautiful university facility near Lefkosa. Nearly 40 driver attended at the race and enjoyed the event which was perfectly hosted by Umut Turkay and the whole Team NCRC Group. All drivers participated in the Modified division and the race went smooth with lots of fun. The track was big and really technical. The carpet they used was the same as the well known ETS carpet which was also one of the reasons the competition was really good as traction was quite high. Thanks to everyone who made this race possible and I am already looking forward for my next visit in North Cyprus.

Adam Drake wins RC Force Challenge

The 2011 RC Force Challenge took place the weekend of June 18-19 2022 and was hosted by Ansan Jungwong Circuit. The facility had containers for racers to pit in, car cleaning station, snack bar, and two tracks. One for 1/10th racing and a larger track for 1/8th nitro racing. When the racing was finished there were lots of free giveaways to racers and spectators which included everything from air-filters to engines and signed wheels and a signed body from Adam Drake. Everyone played rock, paper, and scissors to determine the winners of the prizes. It was TLR / Novarossi driver Adam Drake who dominated qualifying with his 8ight 2.0 buggy. Adam used TLR’s 8ight 2.0 buggy, Novarossi’s BTTS engine and 9901 pipe, Spektrum DX3R Pro transmitter and Losi Digit tires with Losi’s closed cell foam. Worlds-Warmup-SuperBikes

The electric bike World Championship warm-up race took place at the first week of June at the famous Lostallo track in Switzerland. The contestants had been faced with mixed weather conditions making setup of the bikes difficult. In the Stock Bike class, that doesn’t allow for front brakes and calls for a minimum weight of 1900g and 17.5T brushless motors, it was Andrea Selva who claimed TQ followed by 13-years old Antoine Brunet and Thomas Feilner from Germany. In the Super Bike Class Oliver Wäckerle from Germany was able to grab himself the top spot followed by Andy Spiess from Switzerland and Soren Jorgensen from Denmark. Come the final day rain started poring down heavily making the finals very challenging some with with the better end for young Antoine Brunet taking the first place in the Stock Bike class ahead of TQ Andrea Selva and Thomas Feilner. The Super Bikes where dominated by Edi Winter from Austria who won in front of Marc Lutz from Germany and San Marino based Gianni Zonzini.
