JJ Wang confirmed for OneTen Rd5 & 6 in Shanghai

We are very pleased to announce that top US racer JJ Wang has confirmed he will attend the 5th and 6th round of the OneTen Series presented by Infinity in Shanghai on the 4th & 5th of January. Making a return to race at his home track, since moving to California to study the Xray driver has been dominating races on the west coast and so we are looking forward to seeing him back in RCI V2 to go up against the best in the OneTen series, which for this weekend will run alongside the exciting new SGP1 Formula 1 series. RCI V2 to welcome Marc Rheinard for OneTen Rd5 & 6

The organisers of the OneTen Series presented by Infinity are delighted to announce the return of Marc Rheinard to the series for Rd5 & 6 in Shanghai, the German making his series debut at last season’s finale in Hong Kong. With the championship returning to RCI V2 on January 4th & 5th, having also hosted the opening two rounds, the 4x World Champion will be making his first ever trip to Shanghai and the Infinity driver’s first race in mainland China since the World Championships in Beijing in 2016. Making a big impression when he joined the OneTen series at PYC back in March, winning on his debut, this time he will be running indoor on carpet and will be going up against a very on-form teammate Jin Sawada who has won all 4 rounds of the series to date. With the double header running alongside the exciting new SGP1 Formula series, we will announce a number of other big names that will attend in the coming days. Sawada completes perfect weekend at AMA

Again it wasn’t as straight forward as he would have liked but Jin Sawada has taken the win at Rd4 of the OneTen Series presented by Infinity this afternoon in Guangzhou. Pushed very hard at the start by Yugo Nagashima, the Serpent driver made contact with the pole sitter on lap 7 which allowed Gary Huang to jump into the lead, which he held for 6 laps before being passed again by Jin, the Chinese Xray driver eventually coming home in 3rd having crashed later in the race. Stick King would take 4th with Marco Ma and fellow Xray driver Minhao Lao completing the top 6. ‘The car was very difficult at the start’ explained Sawada which he said was the cause of the first mistake which caused Yugo, who was following closely behind, to tag the back of his IF14 just before the straight. Yugo waited and this allowed Huang through into the lead, the contact also causing the Infinity driver’s body to tuck but quick thinking saw him drive over the dots to untuck the body. Once back on track he could catch and easily pass Gary and pull out an unassailable lead to take the win and maintain his perfect scoring record in this year’s series.

Jin pips Yugo on last lap to take Q3

In what was a very close battle between Jin Sawada and Yugo Nagashima, it was the Infinity driver that took the 3rd round of qualifying in Guangzhou, passing his compatriot on the final lap after Yugo misunderstood the announcer and thinking the race was over. In the end, the difference was just 0.045 of a second, the pair very close now on pace, which will make for a very interesting 8-minute final. Finally finding a setup for his Serpent X20, it was Stick King in 3rd place, the Hong Kong driver was much improved this round while Gary Huang completed the top 4, still struggling with the difficult conditions. ‘Super close’ was how Jin summed up the run, also mentioning that the traction was now slightly lower than this morning. Making a mistake, riding up on the curb and half spinning just before the straight while passing Stick King, this lost the Japanese driver only 4 tenths but was enough to drop him to 2nd at that point in the run. For the final qualifier, Sawada will put on a new set of Sweep handout tires and try to seal his 4th TQ of the season.

Nagashima opens up Rd4 of OneTen Series with TQ run

A new day and finally a new name at the top of the results sheet, with Yugo Nagashima topping Q1 at the 4th round of the OneTen Series presented by Infinity at the AMA in Guangzhou. The Serpent driver led home Jin Sawada, who had headed the times up until an incident midway through the run where he had to avoid a crashed car on the main straight. Taking 3rd Gary Huang was less than happy with his car today due to the increase in traction overnight, while 4th went to young Marco Ma with the Serpent of Hong Kong driver Stick King rounding out the top 5. Asked about his run Yugo said, ‘the car is so so’, before going on to explain that the traction had increased since yesterday but thanks to a number of changes to his Serpent X20, including a different chassis and some major setup changes as well as reverting to a Turismo body from Protoform, had made the car slightly easier to drive but was still nowhere near where he wants it.

Sawada wins Rd3 of OneTen Series at AMA

Jin Sawada has maintained with his perfect winning record this year at the OneTen Series presented by Infinity as he took the win today in Guangzhou. Having won A1 earlier in the afternoon, the Japanese driver would follow up with a win in A2 to seal the overall at Rd3 of the series. Gary Huang would take the runner up spot as the Xray driver had a difficult A2 but would bounce back to win A3 by a big margin. Having a troubled start to the day, Yugo Nagashima’s day finally turned around as he finished 2nd in both A2 and A3 to take the final step of the podium. Marco Ma would take 4th overall followed by Stick King in 5th. Commenting on his A2, he said it was easier than expected as the challenge from Gary failed to materialize. For A3 he tried a change of body, going from the DBX to the Hellcat but it wasn’t any better, and in the end contact with a backmarker ended his run as it pulled the right front corner of his IF14.

A1 win at AMA for pole man Sawada

The win in A1 at the OneTen series Rd3 in AMA in Guangzhou has gone to Infinity driver Jin Sawada but he was pushed very hard early on by Gary Huang until a mistake from the Xray driver dropped him back and out of contention although he would still finish in 2nd. A rough start to the final say some crashes in the mid-pack and surviving the carnage it was Marco Ma who would come out of it in 3rd while Stick King finally had some luck on his side and finished in 4th. Describing his final simply as ‘Good’, he expanded on it by saying that at the start Gary was very fast and when he made his mistake Jin switched to safety mode and cruised home to the win. Running the final on a new set of Sweep control tires, Jin said his only major issue in the final was dealing with the traffic, coming together with a slower car at one point.
