Velder wins at Benelux Buggy & Truggy Masters Rd4

Velder wins at Benelux Buggy & Truggy Masters Rd4

Round four of the Benelux Buggy and Truggy Masters was held at the astro track in Appingedam in the north of the Netherlands. Due to a rainy week before the race, the track was in pretty beat up condition as it was dirty, slippery and soaked, meaning on Saturday only limited practice was possible. But come Sunday morning the track conditions were ok to race and the opening qualifier was held in slippery but dry conditions. Unfortunately after heat 1 it started raining again, making the remainder of the day the wheeled equivalent of boat racing. The TQ in the worse conditions was taken by Jarno Pijpers ahead of Jordy Velder and Bart Mullink.

Boots controls tempo on Day 1 of Euros

Defending Champion Elliot Boots controlled the tempo on the opening day of the 1:8 Offroad European Championship in Spain, the Kyosho driver fastest at the end of the day’s four rounds of free practice.  Posting the fastest time in FP3, Boots would end the day 1.2-seconds faster than Robert Batlle who despite windy conditions posted his best 3-laps of the day in the final practice. Similar to Boots, Darren Bloomfield would fail to improve on his FP3 time dropping a place to end the day 3rd quickest.  Having opened the day with the fastest time but unable to improve in the next two, Bryan Baldo would post the second fastest time of FP4 behind Batlle which would leave the race host 4th fastest.  Bryan’s younger brother would also end the day strongly with his best run promoting him to P6 behind Warm-up Race winner David Ronnefalk.

Boots sets early pace in Redovan

Boots sets early pace in Redovan

Reigning champion Elliott Boots has set the early pace at the 1:8 Offroad European Championships in Redovan, Spain, the Kyosho driver fastest after two rounds of 4 scheduled rounds of free practice.  Posting the fastest 3-consecutive laps in the second practice, Bryan Baldo having set the fastest time in FP1,  Boots topped the times ahead of Mugen’s Robert Batlle by just 4/10ths around the massive track. One of the few drivers not to improve in FP2, Baldo’s opening time was still good enough for third after two rounds with former Champion Darren Bloomfield next up in P4.  Winner of the Warm-up Race back in May, David Ronnefalk failed to put together three good laps, the long 52-second lap making it possible to run just 5-laps over the 5-minute practice, and the HB driver finds himself only 24th.

Mirco Thalheimer wins at German 200mm Nats Rd3

Mirco Thalheimer wins at German 200mm Nats Rd3

Round three of the German 1/10th 200mm National Championship was hosted by the MBSC Wächtersbach club. Thilo Tödtmann grabbed the TQ after the qualifiers with Jannick Namyslo starting from the 2 spot into the finals after missing Saturday’s practice, starting directly with Q2 on Sunday. Thilo suffered some issues at the start of the main final which left his car tweaked and a handful to drive. This allowed Jannick to build a 1-lap gap on the field but two stupid mistakes and higher-than-expected tyre wear on Jannick’s car allowed Micro Thalheimer to take the win some three seconds in front of Jannick with Thilo rounding out the top 3 result.
