JConcepts Ford Bronco & Corvair Lakewood bodies

Two more RC crawler body releases from JConcepts with the Florida based company presenting their 2021 Ford Bronco 4-door and 1961 Corvair Lakewood.  The JConcepts team started in 2020 with Ford licensing to build and model an official RC version which would certainly be a highly sought-after vehicle in the market.  In the case of the Ford Bronco by JConcepts, the hands of time moved very slowly to form a product worthy of such a nameplate.  The multi-piece mold delivers increased detail to the front and rear-end of the Bronco to give increased street and off-road appeal.  The chiseled look of the body style in the 4 door variant sizes up well to the popular 12.3” wheelbase vehicles on the market.  For the 1961 Corvair Lakewood, the crew from the JConcepts Speed and Adventure Shop worked to finely detail the window treatments, hard top look, and hardened structure of the Bronco.  The unique figure of the base structure is kindly shaped front to rear, the upper and lower sections tuck in slightly and with included body lines for doors and recessed windows has the item looking on-point.  The rear “hatch” door is detailed with body lines, high visibility rear window and the taillights protrude to give additional definition. Both bodies fit Traxxas TRX-4 Sport, Enduro, Axial, Vanquish 12.3″ wheelbase.

X-Partz BHC-1 wing button & battery retainer set

In their final release of option parts for the LC Racing BHC-1 1:14 Buggy,  X-Factory UK under its X-Partz brand has added a one piece wing button and an adjustable battery retainer set.  The Carbon Fibre DUO Wing Bonez offer a secure wing mounting option. Some people prefer to use aluminium wings buttons, mainly for aesthetics while others prefer the hi-tech approach of carbon fibre for the rigid and lightweight option that it can provide.  A carbon fibre one piece solid button machined to accept your preferred brand, colour or design of alloy button that sits neatly in the milled recess it works with most popular alloy wing buttons with 16mm diameter, such as those from 1Up Racing, Avid RC, Exotek Racing.  The carbon fibre fully adjustable battery retainer set is designed to accommodate all sizes of LIPO battery and is fully adjustable to allow them to be positioned in the car where you want them. It uses black nitrile O-rings to securely hold the battery in place and uses all standard kit mounting hardware.

BRCA 2WD Onroad Nationals R1 Adur – Report

The first round of this year’s BRCA 2WD Onroad National Championships took racers to the Adur circuit.  After a nice day practice day on Saturday, overnight rain meant a slight delay to proceedings and with the rain continuing on and off there was likely to be a few surprises. In F1 qualifying it was the Luke Lee show taking all three qualifying rounds with his Xray from brother Michael’s Schumacher with James Greener lining up third with his Xray. The finals saw a repeat performance with Luke taking all three legs for the overall win with young Jonathan Ellis taking third overall with his Xray by virtue of a brace of thirds.  In FWD, the first round of qualifying went to a surprised Jamie Donovan with his ARC R12FF from Alex Bold’s Mugen MTC2 FWD and Aaron Rose’s Schumacher. Alex took rounds 2 and 3 to secure pole from Jamie and Aaron. The first leg of the final’s saw Alex take the win from Dale Burr. The second leg saw a 1-2 for the Schumacher duo of Aaron and Jamie Hickin, so all down to the final leg to decide it. It was Alex who took the win with Jamie bouncing back in second and Aaron in third. So, the overall win went the way of Alex and his Mugen from Aaron and Jamie.

Shepherd to cease business

Onroad nitro stalwarts Shepherd has made the sad announced that it is to cease business at the end of June.  The German based manufacturer was a pivotal brand in the racing scene and was also a great supporter of racing with CEO Patrick Schafer, a accomplished racer himself, one of those who played a major role in the establishment of the Euro Nitro Series.  That support helped the ENS grow into a major Worldwide series that attracted drivers from around the globe really raising the profile and interest in the category during its peak years.  Shepherd Micro Racing was originally set-up by Patrick’s father Werner, who loved his racing and being track side, but since his passing the ‘fire of passion’ in the company has dwindled and following 15-years as CEO Patrick is making the difficult decision to stop the business.  That said they are in talks with several interested parties about keeping the Shepherd legacy alive.  Having had the pleasure of working with Patrick and his father over the years, visited their factory,  and enjoyed the height of the Kurbuch/Shepherd era, Red RC would like to thank Patrick for all he did for nitro onroad racing and wish him well in his new projects.  Thanks for the memories.

JConcepts ’78 Chevy & ’95 Ford Tucked bodies

JConcepts has release two ‘Tucked’ bodies intended for 1:10 RC crawlers, the 1978 Chevy K10 and the 1995 Ford F-150. Designed by JConcepts, the Tucked body layout creates more tire space, less overhang. Fitting the Traxxas TRX-4 Sport, Enduro, Axial 12.3″ wheelbase, on the Chevy the identifiable design detail of the retro piece is the center bulged section that runs the length of the shell. A vertical signal marker can be added thanks to the included and pre-trimmed JConcepts decal sheet. Extending off the center structure of the body, the blend flows nicely into the cab with large windows which are recessed for increased realism. The large front windshield produces a lot of scale visibility to look forward to the Tucked front nose for better handling characteristics. On the Ford, the design began by emulating body lines and language from various photos around the world and real world vehicles. Body panels feature slight curvature, upper notch familiar with early generation Ford trucks, and edged and kicked rocker panel at the bottom.
