Schumacher Ridge Pin 1:8 Offroad Carpet & Astro Tyre

In response to racer requests, Schumacher Racing has released the new Ridge Pin 1:8 Offroad tyre.   The Ridge Pin is similar to Schumacher’s extremely popular Mini Pin tyre but features fewer spikes to give a less aggressive feel on astro, carpet, and grass surfaces.

JConcepts Magma & Choppers Large scale tyres

JConcepts has released two new tyres which are aimed at the large scale RC drivers, the Magma and the Choppers.   The Magma tyre is an all-around performer for lthose looking to conquer the toughest terrain while driving at incredibility high-speeds. Available as a pre-mounted option on Hazard wheels, the tire is designed with extreme abuse and speed in-mind, ite has giant horizontal tread which is bridge shaped and constructed for massive forward-bite. The tire and wheel are designed to complement each other as a complete assembled unit.  Inspired from some of the most successful JConcepts race tyres, the Choppers have the look, fit and finish of a hard-core racing tire built for the best large scale RC vehicles.  The tyre is designed to tear up surfaces ranging from grass and gravel to dirt and asphalt.  It starts with a robust carcass, capable of holding the weight, heavy inner x-bracing to resist tire expansion and tire beads built in conjunction with Hazard wheels.

MIBO International Race Offroad track layout

Following last week’s reveal of the onroad track layout, the organisers of next month’s inaugural MIBO International Race in the Czech Republic have now released the layout for the offroad track. Taking place in Hrotovice from March 3-5th, has event has attracted 228 entries from 12 countries who race on the dual track set-up. The offroad carpet track features 9 jumps and is the creation of event organiser Michal Bok based off popular features of tracks previously used during the Winter season Mibosport Cup series that preceded the new single weekend MIBO International Race that is planned as a regular annual fixture on the calendar. In a major coup for the race, Xray’s 1:10 4WD Offroad World Champion Bruno Coelho will heads up the inaugural Offroad entry.

Tessman wins Hotrace Grand Prix

With the biggest names in 1:8 Offroad gathering in the US for this week’s 24th running of the iconic Dirt Nitro Challenge,  Ty Tessman took a nice pre event race victory at the Hotrace Grand Prix over the weekend at Channel Islands Raceway in California.  In qualifying it was factory Tekno driver Marco Baruffolo who was the Top Qualifier, the Italian fastest from Tessman’s Xray and Mayako’s Jared Tebo.  Winning their respective Semi Finals, Tessmann winning from Robert Batlle while Baruffolo won his 20-minute encounter from HB Racing’s Ryan Pavidis, it was the Canadian who had the fastest winning time to secure pole for the final.  Over the 30-minutes, Tessmann would lead for all but a couple laps early on, and despite Baruffolo having the fastest lap, would win by a 20-seconds margin.  Batlle completed the podium for Mayako while team-mate Tebo moved up from 6th on the grid to finish fourth ahead of Pavidis.

MIBO International Race onroad track layout

The organisers of next month’s brand new MIBO International Race in the Czech Republic has released the track layout on which the titles of inaugural Champions will be decided over the two and half day event that runs from March 3-5th.  Featuring a 30 metre long straight, the track is 19 metres deep and is the creation of touring car racer Enrico Jung with input from man behind this event Michal Bok.  A follow on from the very popular pre-pandemic Mibosport Cup held at the Sports V Hotel venue in Hrotovice, the first running of the MIBO International Race has already attracted an entry of more than 200 that includes star international drivers such as Mugen’s Ronald Volker, Yokomo’s Christopher Krapp and Xray’s Bruno Coelho.

Tekno SCT410SL 1:10 4×4 Lightweight SCT

Tekno RC has announced the release of its latest addition to the short course racing class, the SCT410SL.  The much anticipated vehicle has been in testing and development for more than two years, and has been tested on tracks throughout the United States to ensure that it meets the high standards set by Tekno RC.  The SCT410SL is not a replacement for their popular SCT410.3 short course truck, which has been in production for almost eight years.  Instead, the SCT410SL is a lightweight alternative to the SCT410.3 and is designed for use on racetracks where enhanced agility and a lighter vehicle are advantageous.

Butterfield wins Florida Winter Nats

Reigning ROAR Fuel Onroad National Champion Bryce Butterfield took victory at the 47th Annual Florida Winter Nats.   Securing the overall 1:10 TQ after five rounds of qualifying at Nuggets Ranch RC Raceway, the factory Serpent driver would take his 750 EVO to a comfortable win in the 30-minute Main Final over the Xray of Franco Desiderio and the Infinity of Jerry Guerra.  With this year’s edition of race attracting over a 100 entries,  in 1:8 Pro Diego Morganti, son of former US Onroad Nitro ace Paolo, took the TQ but his final was short lived ending after just 2-laps.  The No.2 qualifier Ralph Birch would also hit trouble early on, the former 1:10 World Champion retiring after only 8 laps.  Following his 1:10 victory, it wasn’t to be a double for Butterfield as he too retired half way through the 45-minute Main.  In the end it was Eric Dennett who took the win by 6.6 seconds from Joachim Bruneaunnett with Rafael Angulo completing the podium.  In 1:8 GT,  Jose Almonte took the win for Serpent ahead of the IGT8 of Morganti with Carlie Lopez completing te Top 3 at the end of the half hour encounter.

JConcepts Tire Reference & Comparison Packet

JConcepts has just published their 2023 Tire Reference and Comparison Packet.  In the fast-paced world of RC tyres, it’s rare to capture all current models, their names, exposition, and available compounds all in one packet.  Celebrating 20-years in business, JConcepts begins the 2023 season showing off their complete line of current models, and playing into the future showing several unreleased, but items so close to release, they couldn’t resist adding them to the fray.  Updates or changes include streamlining the compound line and adding locations for a variety of Aqua compounds.  An update to the application chart now includes when and where to use certain tread and compounds.  They provided an icon which indicates a pre-mounted option or intended future option.  New 2.2 tire crawler tire options have been added, along with SCX6 models, 1.7” and 1.9” RC10 front and rear tires, new XMaxx and XRT high-performance options and a few new items scheduled for release very soon.   Click here for the 2023 JConcepts Tire Reference and Comparison Packet.
