Kwon Chanwoo wins Korean Stock Nationals

The KMRCA Korean nationals for 1/10 Electric Sedan was held last weekend at the Gyungsan onroad track. TOP/Acorn driver Kwon Chanwoo led qualifying in Stock and secured the TQ with a big margin of almost one lap over second position. In the finals he would take the win in the first and second legs to be crowned the 2011 Korean national champion. Kyosho driver Hwang Kyongwon would take 2nd with Choi Ikjoon driving a Tamiya 417 in 3rd. In the modified class it was an all Yokomo podium with Lee Jungduk winning from 2nd place Ahn Jonghyun, with Ahn Junghyun completing the podium.

Spashett & Jefferies win at BRCA 1/12th opener

Round 1 of the 2011/12 BRCA 1/12th scale nationals took place at Ardent Raceway last weekend. Saturdays event was for the stock class, with all cars running 10.5 motors in ‘blinky’ zero-timing mode. Team Associated/LRP driver Olly Jefferies qualified on pole for the A final ahead of multiple world champion David Spashett, who has returned to competition in this class for the first time since 2006 and was driving one of Josh Cyrul’s CEFX cars. Mark Stiles lined up third for Serpent/LRP with the new S120LT ahead of his team mate Chris Kerswell and multiple British Champion Andy Griffiths who is once again driving for V-Dezign/Nosram this season.

Kenji Osaka wins 2011 JMRCA 1/8 buggy Nats

The JMRCA Japanese 1/8th offroad Nationals took place last weekend at the Futaba buggy track in Chiba. A lower than normal attendance with only 66 drivers taking part, Atsushi Hara was a notable absentee, the former multiple champion opting to take part in the Sidewinder race in the US instead. The first day of qualifying saw a dry day but as is customary for this event the rain arrived on Saturday and Sunday morning, only to clear up as the days progressed. Qualifying would see Kyosho/TecnoPower driver and reigning champion Kazuya Tanaka take the TQ spot and he would also start the main final from pole position. In the hour long final however it was former World on road Champion Kenji Osaka driving a Ninja powered Mugen that would take the win by just under 10 seconds from Kyosho/OS driver Atsushi Kawamoto in 2nd and pole man Tanaka 4 seconds further back in 3rd.

Tommy takes KRC Cup victory

Tommy takes KRC Cup victory

Team C are reporting that team driver driver Tommy wins the 1/8 buggy class at the KRC Cup, with his PR engine powered T8. In qualifying it was Durango driver Lam that took the top qualifying spot after 3 rounds of 10 minute qualifying. In the 45 minute final, Tommy started from 2nd place and was leading after the first tank and kept running without problems to take an easy win. Second place went to Wenyi with his Mugen/OS, with third place going to Wai with his MP9/OS combo. In the truly class it was Wenyi, driving a pre-production Truggy T8T that took the TQ and win.

Branson dominates BRCA 1/8th series with MeccaFuel

French fuel company Meccamo have been in touch to tell us that their sponsored driver Kyle Branson has dominated this year’s BRCA 1/8th scale Nationals using MeccaFuel. The factory Sirio driver TQ’d 8 of the 9 rounds this year and won 7 on his way to clinching the title with one round to spare. Kyle only stepped up to the 1/8th class this season having dominated the 1/10th 200mm National series for the past few years.

Capricorn sign Flavio Elias to their Factory team

Capricorn has announced that they have signed Favio Elias to their factory team for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Flavio Elias is eight times Brazilian 1/8 Champion and will now as a official Capricorn pilot represent Brazil in international competitions such as the next worlds in Japan. Flavinho, who already was one of the stand out drivers at the last Worlds in Miami, was Brazilian champion in 2010 and 2011 already running the Capricorn chassis.

Ty Tessmann wins Battle at the Beach

Sunny Lake Havasu, Arizona, was once again the site for the Battle at the Beach. Over one hundred racers from throughout the Southwest participated in a variety of electric and nitro classes. This race event is always considered to be one of the most enjoyable events to attend, thanks to the laid-back atmosphere and excellent track preparation. Ty Tessmann, driving a Reedy/LRP-powered SC10 4×4, was the man to beat throughout the weekend. After qualifying for the pole position, Ty won the first two main event legs to close the deal and claim another title.

Darren Bloomfield joins Maugrafix

Darren Bloomfield joins Maugrafix

Announced at the Arena race last weekend in Italy, Darren Bloomfield will switch to Maugrafix decals. The multiple British National Champion and this year’s Arena ROC, brushless & F1 Buggy Champion will run the Italian made decals on all his bodies and race equipment.
