Dirk Wischnewski on pole at German Nats

Dirk Wischnewski is the man to beat at the German Championship 1/10 200mm nitro, when the final will be held on Sunday at the 220 meter track at Türkheim in the south of Germany. The European Champion and reigning champion in Germany did 23 laps in 5.01,009 minutes in his best heat and with a 12,9 second lap he was the only driver of the field of the 77 competitors to break through the 13 seconds barrier. With his Orcan LR3 powered Xray NT1 he achieved a nearly two seconds advantage over Xray/Orcan fellow Eric Dankel, who did 23 laps in 5.02,995 minutes. More than three seconds down, Serpent ace Michael Salven (23/5.06,134) and Kyosho racer Patrick Gassauer (23/5.06,679) took third and fourth in the qualification.

34th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about both the European Championships for 1/8th buggy in Austria and for 1/10th 200mm in Italy, the former seeing the team take the title.

We did it!” was the thought that screamed through my mind on the last Sunday of July, a fraction of a second after the finish of the 1/10 Nitro touring European Championship and after the first 6 cars passed over the finish line… all of them XRAY NT1 cars! Finally, the long and grueling work of everybody on the XRAY team has paid off, and afforded us a fabulous achievement. I am so unbelievably happy, satisfied, and proud it is simply bursting from me.

Wischnewski, Guensel & Kroeber top timesheets at German Nats

Reigning Champion Dirk Wischnewski has been fastest on day 3 of the German Championship 1/120 200mm nitro at Tuerkheim in the German state Bavaria. The Xray/Orcan racer was followed by team fellow Thomas Guensel and Rico Kroeber (Kyosho/Orcan) on second and third position among 76 competitors in the ranking lists. Day three of the Gernan Nats, a one-event decision, saw six practice heats with the official timekeeping running. The weather was good all day different to the weather forecast. Also for Saturday with six heats of qualifying and Sunday with all the (sub-) finals good weather can be expected.

Hobby Haven in Urbandale, Iowa; located in an active part of town and within a shopping plaza, has a lot to offer the hobbyist and racer alike. For many years Hobby Haven has hosted a Labor Day Shootout dedicated to its customers and loyal club racers. JConcepts drivers Jason Ruona and Zach Mote made the trip during Labor Day for this year’s Shootout and brought with them the customary JConcepts Events gear and prizes for the racers.

Jörn Neumann wins 2009 German National title

Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the German 1:8th scale Nationals which were held in Osterhofen. Friday’s practice was cancelleddue to very heavy rain but the weather on Saturday was a little bit better with no more rain. After Qualifying it was Stefan Scheuenpflug who took the TQ spot. Sunday was finals day and the main event was over 40min and saw Daniel Reckward have some problems near the end allowing Stefan Scheuenpflug to take the win. Jörn Neumann finished 5th, but combined with the win in Round 1 of the series, it was enough for him to claim the overall German Title.

Dirk Wischnewski sets first pace at German Nats

Even on the first day of free practice for the German Championship 1/10 200mm nitro most of the 81 competitors have been out on the track, the paddock was fully crowded on day 2. Up to 14 drivers have been on the rostrum in each practice heat to get track time as much as possible. The weather was absolutely brilliant, warm and sunny. But the forecast has changed a bit and it looks like that rain can be expected to arrive early Friday afternoon at Tuerkheim in the south of Germany, the location of the 2009 German Nationals. Saturday, when six heats will be run, and the finals Sunday should be dry again but with temperatures only around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.

BRCA End of Season Finals

The annual end of season finals took place over the weekend at the excellent Kidderminster facility in the midlands. The event incorporates the British Regional Finals which include the best regional drivers in the country, except those who hold a F1 license, plus the Juniors and Veterans class. For the second year running Nathan Waters has won the regional title with his CAT SX, Nathan dominated the finals, winning all 3 legs of the A final at the challenging Kidderminster track. Colin May and Andrew Jones also placed their CAT’s in the A final.
