Mark Green switches to Novarossi engines

Multiple World Championship finalist and Pre Worlds winner, Mark Green, has announced that he has signed for Italian engine maker Novarossi World. The British racer had until recently used Mega powerplants to power his Serpent chassis’ but will now use Novarossi’s new 353 and Flash engines in the 1/10th and 1/8th scale classes respectively. Mark will soon announce more new sponsors, as he gears up both the European 1/10th scale Championships in Gubbio Italy, and of course the 1/8th scale World Championships in Lostallo, Swtizerland.

Francesco Tironi to switch to Mugen

Francesco Tironi to switch to Mugen

F.V.S.S. Racing Team in Italy have announced that current Italian 1/10th 200mm Touring car champion Francesco Tironi will be joining their team in 2009. Francesco will be making the change to Mugen Seiki this year, leaving behind a long standing deal with Kyosho Japan that has seen them reach World and European Championship finals together. Tironi will continue to compete in the 1/8th and 1/10th scale classes and will stick with long term engine partner Sirio, while for fuel he will run the Master Fuel by Capricorn RC, with Matrix Tires and KO Propo completing his sponsor list.

DJ Apolaro joins ATS International team

DJ Apolaro joins ATS International team

Italian tire company ATS has contacted us to let us know that they have signed front running US gas on road racer DJ Apolaro. After a couple of years of collaboration with the ATS Tires distributor in the USA, DJ joins the International ATS team and will run the tires in the 1/12th & 1/10th and 1/8th on road nitro classes.

Landfill Raceway Championship Rd1

Landfill Raceway is the biggest off-road track in the Caribbean and recently received a huge makeover with better jumps and more banking on the corners and so far this facility is a state of the art off-road track with great night lights, huge covered driver stand, covered pit space and a concrete pit lane are just some of the features. Last weekend was the first race of the Landfill Raceway Championship and it attracted more than 60 entries in both Buggy and Truggy classes. In the 45 minute long Buggy final it was a battle from the start with TQ Juan Torres and Eliud Hernadez battling it out for about 10 minutes until both cars hit mechanical problems allowing n-road Mugen Team Driver Andy Báez to take the win in the end by a lap from his recovering teammate Juan Torre, while Losi driver Manuel Vázquez took 3rd position having bumped up from the B Main. In the Truggy class Miguel Cotto driving a Losi took the TQ and win followed by José Rodríguez in 2nd position and Jaime Negrón in third, with his Associated.

ROAR, the U.S./Canadian sanctioning body for R/C car and truck competition, have announced a 1:8 LiPo Battery Specification Amendment. “The 1:8 Electric Racing Classes are an emerging form of our sport. Our responsibility in ROAR Leadership Role is to outline a set of specifications which ensure a responsible growth and flexibility to leverage advancements based on the benefits they offer our users. The Executive Committee, in accordance with our responsibility to ensure our Members, Organizers, and Affiliate Partners have access to provide the best Technology available for our members benefit, are issuing the following Revision to our 4S Battery Dimension Specifications. The change will allow our Affiliate partners to take advantage of a growing assortment of next generation LiPo cells for 1:8 Electric Racing, as well as the option using larger gauge wire in the assembly process. Rule 8.3.2.3.3. is revising the Hardcase Length dimension from 160mm to 165mm.”

Lemiuex & Blackstock clean up at 09 Snowbirds

Trinity team driver Paul Lemieux has taken yet more victories at the Snowbirds, as the Xray driver dominated this years proceedings, which took place at the weekend, notching up wins from the pole position in both the 10.5 rubber and Pro Mod classes. The Xray driver had it all his own way in the rubber class to win by over a lap ahead of Austin Harrison in 2nd and TJ Bradley in 3rd. In the Foam class (above) he was pushed hard by young Associated driver Kevin Herbert who ended the race only 2 seconds behind, while Jeff Dayger took the final podium spot in 3rd for Corally. In the other categories there more domination in the 1/12th 10.5 and Mod classes as well as World GT for Associated team driver Mike Blackstock, his team mate Kevin Herbert was victorious in the 13.5 Foam class, Donny Lia won 1/12th 17.5, Mike Haynes won 17.5 foam and Jeff Cuffs came out on top in 17.5 rubber.

Steven Cuypers to use Capricorn Fuel

Former European ‘B’ Champion and former European ‘A’ finalist Steven Cuypers has announced that he will team up with Italian manufacturer Capricorn RC to use their competition fuels for the 2009 season. Steven, who recently signed to Mugen, after a long spell with Serpent, will use the fuel in his Sirio power plants this year as he aims for success at the 1/8th scale World Championships, held in Lostallo, Switzerland.

Team Mirage win 2009 EBOR 24hr race

Our friends at oOple are reporting that Team Mirage / HPI won at the 2009 EBOR 24 hour race held at the York Off Road Car Club over the weekend. The grueling 24 hours of solid racing took their toll on the competitors but all teams finished with HPI out front after a bad start. The Asoociate Team snatched second by just 3 laps after a battle with the unlucky Nor-Trak-Macher-Tech team who themselves had led the race for a long time.
