Kyosho buys Team Orion

We exclusively informed you last week that Kyosho had bought Team Orion, and now it has been confirmed – “Team Orion, with 20 years experience as the maker of the some of the world’s best electric and nitro power systems, has joined forces with Kyosho, the maker of the world’s finest radio control models. Other than an eventual relocation for the respective Team Orion facilities, the same key people will be in place making all the same products that have made Team Orion such a dominant force in the market. The combined strength and extra resources that result from the partnership will present new opportunities to expand the Team Orion product line.” In the picture, taken at the Shizuoka Hobby show last week is Mr Masayuki Susuki, Kyosho president alongside Philippe Neidhart (center) from Team Orion and Joel Johnson from Kyosho USA.

Robert Pietsch wins German South Rd3

German South Rd3

Robert Pietsch continues to win in the South of Germany as the 3rd round of the regional championships took place last weekend in Rosenheim. Qualifying on Saturday and Sunday resulted in Robert Pietsch taking the TQ spot on his home track with Thomas GÃ¼nsel in 2nd and Sebastian Feller in 3rd, all 3 drivers racing the Xray NT1. At the start of the main final, Robert took off into the lead leaving GÃ¼nsel and Feller to battle it out for the 2nd step on the podium, eventually being decided when Feller had a coming together with another car, dropping him back, but still managed to recover to 3rd behind the winner Pietsch and 2nd placed GÃ¼nsel.

LoGiudice takes RC Pro Mod Nats double

Kyosho were in touch to tell us that their team driver Johnny LoGiudice has earned the title of RC Pro Series Modified National Champion for 2007 driving a Kyosho Ultima RB5 in the 2WD class and a Kyosho Lazer ZX-5 in the 4WD class.

During the final event of the season, LoGiudice took TQ and was well on the way to a win when a motor failure took him out of the running, but he had already accumulated enough points to capture the National Championship in the class. LoGiudice and Elliot Manchez, also driving a Kyosho Lazer ZX-5, qualified first and second. LoGiudice was a full second faster per lap and finished with a full lap on the entire field while Manchez finished in second. Congratulations to Johnny LoGiudice as the 2007 RC Pro Series 2WD and 4WD Modified National Champion.

Michal Bok wins Rd2 of Czech Nats

Xray have a report from last weekends 2nd round of the Czech Nationals that were run on the small but technical Blansko track. In qualifying it was Martin KoÅ™Ãnek that took the top spot, heading an Xray NT1 lock out of the top 4 with Martin Bayer in 2nd, Michal Bok in 3rd and Martin Pater in 4th. In the race, after some confusion at the start, pole man KoÅ™Ãnek was the first retirement with engine trouble, which left Michal Bok to take the win from Martin Pater and Martin Bayer in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Teemu Leino wins Euros Warm up race

Xray are reporting on their site from last weekends European Championship warm up race held in France in the small city Montbrison, not far from Lyon. Thursday free practice had been lost due to rain but the weather picked up Friday lunch time for the rest of the weekend and so the racers could get some practice runs in, prior to Saturdays qualifying. Teemu Leino set the pace in qualifying for Xray while Tamiya racer Loic Jasmin was 2nd with another Xray in 3rd driven by AurÃ©lien Threhout, in fact 8 of the 10 finalists drove Xray.

Teemu was unbeatable in the Sunday’s finals and won all three rounds. He showed not only the car’s performance but also his driving skills especially in the first final when he tried a not-so-good additive and was sliding around the track for the first 3 laps; however, he did not give anyone a chance to pass him and after few laps he was able to pull away. Jilles showed his enormous talent as well and he finished in overall 2nd position from his 8th qualifier post. Bart Wubben was lucky in the finals as well and finished 3rd from his 9th place and showed that he is the driver that would join the top drivers very soon.

Danish Off-Road Nationals Rd2

Last weekend saw the second round of the Danish 1/10 EP Off-Road championship take place at the RC Minirace track in Odense. The 2WD class was dominated by guest star, former European Champion Jonas Kaerup, who took the pole position after qualifying and went on to win 2 of the 3 finals to take the overall win, with 2nd place going to Lars Alex Jensen while in 3rd position was Christer Rasmussen. In the 4WD class it was Yokomo driver Palle Hornum who was the man to beat winning 2 finals for the overall ahead of Losi driver Kim Nielsen in 2nd position while Ulrich Rasmussen put his Kyosho into 3rd place. In the stock class the man to beat was local youngster Jesper Rasmussen.

Travis Amezcua Joins the Hot Bodies Team

Event tough we wrote about Travis Amezcua joining HB already, we will mention it again because Hot Bodies have only now officially announced his arrival at the company and along with the announcement they have outlined his role at the company.

Travis will be spearheading the Hot Bodies team assault on 1/10th scale and 1/8th scale off-road events around the US, using the new D4 buggy, the 1/8th scale Lightning 2 Evo buggy and Lightning Stadium truggy. Travis brings with him the experience of 6 National Champion titles and 3 A-Main finals at the World Championships. His addition to the HB team is another great step forward for the HB team into the off-road classes. In addition to Team Supervisor, Travis will also be a key factor in the development and testing of Hot Bodies racing products, and provide input for future racing products. Look for Travis and the HB team at upcoming off-roads events!

Steffen Culmsee wins Rd2 Danish TT Nats

Last weekend saw the 2nd round of the Danish championship held at the SOS track south of Copenhagen. Qualifying saw Xray racer Peter Harder take the top spot while Hong Nor racer Tim Culmsee lined up 2nd with his brother CEN driver Steffen Culmsee ending up in 3rd. The final saw a close fight between Steffen and Peter for the full 30 minutes with Tim only 5 secinds behind until his engine flamed out dropping him back and giving Steffen the chance to shake Peter of. Pushing hard the CEN driver could break away and take the win, with Peter Harder dropping back to 3rd in the closing stages, allowing Kyosho racer Lars Alex up to 2nd.
