Hobbywing QuicRun WP 10BL60 G2 Speedo

Hobbywing has introduced a new version of its entry level QuicRun ESC with the release of the new smaller WP 10BL60 G2.  More compact than its predecessor, it is shorter in length by 2.5mm with the width reduced by 1.5mm.  In terms of features of the 1:10 speedo include Intelligent Freewheeling Technology that enables the ESC to be able to achieve higher driving efficiency at a lower operating temperature.  It further improves on the stability and reliability of the ESC.  The mesh design of the heat sink is used for efficient cooling of the ESC.  Each of the phases adapt a copper thermal bar for better cooling and the heat sink designed with the fan ensures the ESC is always in the best operating temperatures.  The ESC is achieves IP67 waterproofing so is able to easily cope with various competition environments such as rain, dust, and sand.

Ronnefalk and Bertin part ways after 15-years

It is hard to imagine one without the other at any major international 1:8 Offroad race but former World Champion David Ronnefalk and his long standing mentor & mechanic Adrien Bertin are to part ways after 15-years.  Bertin himself a double World Championship in nitro onroad, has played an integral part in the career of the Swedish driver.   Red RC first witnessed this partnership, that would become a world recognised force, in action the EFRA European Championships in Austria fresh from Ronnefalk having become the European B Champion.  Since then the duo have gone on to win around the world with them achieving the ultimate dream when Ronnefalk took the World title in Las Vegas in 2016.  A partnership that started through Kyosho and Orion engines and successfully moved to HB Racing, but Ronnefalk’s latest move to Xray after a brief stint with Mayako has seen the duo a somewhat less formidable force and now as the saying goes ‘all good things must come to an end ‘ with Ronnefalk making the announcement on his social media and concluding ‘I wouldn’t be in the position I am today if it wasn’t for you Adrien.  I can’t thank you enough’

Yokomo YZ-834B Re-release

Having first revealed plans to re-release the YZ-834B back at the end of May, Yokomo has released more details about the upcoming kit release of what was the Japanese company’s first ever 4WD offroad buggy.  Winning on the first ever IFMAR 4WD World Championship on jts debut, the re-release will retain many original features such as front and rear monoshock, chain drive 4WD, front one-way, trailing arms, etc., captured the attention of children at that time.  The kits comes about as in recent years there have been many requests from customers to reissue the buggy.  Looking into the possibility of manufacturing it, Yokomo finally decided to release it this Summer.  The YZ-834B will be released in the same semi-finished chassis as when it was first released in 1985.  One sharing two images of the actually buggy along with more CAD images, Yokomo say this will be a product to be enjoyed by looking at the machine and reminiscing about those days, as well as by driving it with the sound of the chain drive.

Wong doubles at PN Asia Championship 2024

Indonesia played host to the sixth running of the PN Asia Championship with previous editions of the 1:28 event having been hosted in Singapore and Thailand.  Attracting just shy of 100 entries to the city of Surabaya, the event saw drivers from Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, USA, Italy and Finland compete for the Asian title in 4 Classes – 2WD Mod, 4WD Mod, GTLM Superstock, and Pan Mod.  In 2WD Mod it was Malaysian driver Jason Wong with his Reflex Racing RX28 who took the win ahead of Top Qualifier Natapong Chansawang from Thailand with Arif Zakaria from Brunei completing the podium.  In 4WD Mod, it was local driver Tony Lee who secured the TQ but it was Chansawang driving his RC Atomic BZ5 who was crowned PNAC Champion with Indonesia’s Andre Irawan his closest rival.  Making it a double success, Wong would also take the GTLM Superstock class while Pan Mod was won by Roy Chong from Singapore.  The PN World Championship will take place in Vélizy Villacoublay, France, from October 31st to November 3rd.

Serpent Nitro GT Series Hong Kong – Report

The first round of the Serpent Nitro GT Series took place at the Tom Racing Circuit in Hong Kong on July 14th.  The weather was perfect for racing, with a sunny day at 34 degrees.  The race consisted of two classes: the Sport GT class, which primarily features RTR GT Chassis with stock engines, and the Open class, which has no restrictions on chassis or engine.  After three rounds of qualifying, Sam Kwong took the top qualifying spot in the Open class, while Jason Choi took the TQ in the Sport GT class.  Following a 45-minute A-Main final, Opel Chiu emerged as the winner in the Open class, followed by Simon Chan in second place and Ricky Yim in third. The Sport GT class race was more thrilling, with the second, third, fourth, and fifth positions all having the same number of laps and a very tight gap.  In the end, Tiger Ho emerged as the winner, followed by Ming Wu in second place and Jason Choi in third.

Factory Team B7 Servo, Motor, & +2mm Ballstud Mounts

New from Team Associated’s optional parts brand Factory Team are these one-piece Servo Mounts, Motor Mounts, and +2mm Ballstud Mounts for the RC10B7 1:10 2WD Buggy.  While adding some bling to the buggy, they further improve the durability.  Made from 7075-T6, these parts are available anodised blue or black with secondary machined chamfers and laser-etched FT logo.

Stanley joins ARC Factory Team

ARC has announced that young Australian onroad racer Brayden Stanley has joined its factory team.  A multiple 1:10 Nitro Touring Car Australian and State Champion, and a finalist at the 2022 IFMAR World Championship in Thailand, Stanley has also been racing extensively in electric touring cars for the past few years.  Debuting the A10-25 electric touring car at the recent PDNR Winter Champs, he took TQ and overall win in the highly competitive Modified Class.  As part of the deal, the former Infinity driver will also now race in the 1:8 Onroad category.  Commenting on the move to ARC, Stanley said, “In my initial test with the A10-25, I was immediately impressed with its quality and speed straight out of the box. I want to thank Jones from ARC and Vincent from Smokem for welcoming me into the ARC team.  I am also super excited to start racing 1/8th nitro with the ARC R8.4 LCG, as it’s a class I’ve been aspiring to race in since my early nitro days!”.

MWX Performance 1:28 Wheels

Texas based 1:28 specialists MWX Performance has announced a number of new sets of racing wheels available in two different materials.  The PC based material wheel is stiffer for high grip tracks but can not be re used once the tires wear out while the NB material wheel is softer but can be soaked in acetone to remove your tyres and re-purpose the wheels.  Each wheel is double offset, by mounting the tire backwards you gain 1mm of offset per side. Precise mould process eliminates out of round and wobbly wheels with the wheels available in 19×8.5- 0/1 offset, 19×11 -0/1 offset, 19×14-0/1 offset and 20×11 – 3/4 offset.
