The Neo Race 2018 – Report

The 2018 NeoBuggy Race consisted of the same special soul with a new face as the prestigious event was hosted in a new country, at a new track, and couldn’t have been any more different than the old venue at Harper Adams in England. From a tricky clay indoor surface track that was scheduled directly in the heart of Britain’s cold and wet spring, the new venue was twice as big, on a huge permanent outdoor track, under the hot sun in Southern Spain at Redovan Raceway. The old event will be sorely missed, but the new venue was definitely worthy and tested the best drivers from all across Europe. Sure, this year’s Neo didn’t feature any of the top US drivers, but in time, they will most certainly attend as they’ll want to race at one of the best tracks in Europe. Great job by Neobuggy’s Philip Mortstedt on his vision and another successful NeoBuggy race.

Bill Lykaris wins Greek 1/10 GP opener

Round 1 of the Greek 1/10th Nitro On-road Championship was held at the Fanatix Racing Track in Athens last weekend. Bill Lykaris soon made his intensions clear and after scoring promising laps in practice he also brought home the TQ and the fastest lap. Right from the start of the 30-minutes main final Bill opened a gap to 2nd placed Nikos Karabelas and even a change in weather around mid-race, which caused Bill’s engine to run richer and making an extra pit stop necessary, did not hold him from bringing home the win with a 1-lap margin.

Daryl Thong takes comeback win at UTS Rd2

After a 2-month break, serious touring car racing action returned to the rooftop on-road track in downtown Singapore in the form of the second round of the Urban Touring Series. Held over the Easter weekend, the event attracted a strong turnout with a 23-car starting grid. With some of the nation’s top racers overseas for another event, interest was focused on who would step up on to the podium. In pre-race practice, the goal was to post consistent sub-11 seconds lap times. Daryl Thong (Xray), who was making his comeback to UTS racing, together with PY Tang (ARC), who finished 2nd in round 1, and Hasron Robana (Xray) were the clear pace-setters. Team N8 racing series Rd1 – Report

The Shanghai Nitro 1/8 scale Racing Club, also known as Team N8, kicked off its 2018 season in Suzhou, China this weekend. Team N8 is the brainchild of Rick Wang and Ben Lai who both share the passion for nitro racing. The race format is unique in a way that the qualifying result is based on the three best consecutive laps achieved in a 60-minutes qualifying session where drivers can decide when is the best time to go on a clear track. The top 5 qualifiers proceed directly into the A-main, while from the lower mains the best two finishers will bump up. Due to the limited size of the Suzhou track the maximum number of cars per heat is limited to eight. The opening round of the series was attended by 25 members with the season will see six local club races and two travel races, one of which will be the annual Sunpadow Nitro On-Road Race in November.
