Wins for Kaerup & Orlowski at EOS Daun

Reigning European 1:10 Offroad Champions Marcus Kaerup and Michal Orlowski were the winners at EOS Daun, Team Associated’s Kaerup securing the TQ & win in 4WD after 2WD honours went to Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski.  As the defending Champion, having won the three round 2022/23 series, Orlowski completed a clean sweep of reduced 2 round 2023/24 series by backing up his Hann. Munden win in November with another dominant TQ & win performance in 2WD.  While Orlowski maintained status up front, the weekend would see fellow countryman Bartosz Zalewski showcase his impressive talents as he qualified second ahead of the returning Joona Haatanen.  With Orlowski sowing up the overall win in A2, Haatanen would take his Team Associated to the win in A3 to secure second ahead Zalewski’s Xray with Kaerup finishing just off the podium in fourth having started P6.  As the event moved onto 4WD, Kaerup opened qualifying with a TQ run following that up with another in Q3 making the Dane the Top Qualifier.  Orlowski topped Q2 to start second ahead of Zalewski who was fastest in the fourth & final qualifier.  With Kaerup taking A1, and A2 going to Orlowski, it all came down to the third encounter but with the former laying down the fastest lap to keep Orlowski a bay he took the overall win.  The podium in Daun was completed by Zalewski with Haatanen fourth ahead of fellow Scandinavian’s Elias Johansson and Alexander Landen while World Champion Davide Ongaro ended up P7.

While not to the same level as the past for high profile new competition car unveils, Tamiya has used the opening day of the Nuremberg Toy Fair for a much anticipated high profile racing product release by publicly showing its new TRF421.  One of the few remaining RC car manufacturers who exhibit at the German show, which is still a huge event for international toy buyers, Tamiya’s new competition 1:10 electric touring car has been widely rumoured.  With our friends Blog Kentech having their finger on the pulse with all things Tamiya, they have gathered together a collective of images and information on the TRF421 from various sources which they are sharing on their site.  While the Tamiya Racing Factory race team was disbanded at the end of 2016 ending the iconic Japanese brands reign at the top of international touring car competition and ending the Marc Rheinard/Tamiya era, they still have a hugely loyal following and their latest release will be popular not just with Tamiya fans but touring cars fans world wide.  With it rumoured Kenneth Södergård knows more about Tamiya products than Tamiya themselves, you can follow his Blog Kentech Tamiya updates from the show here
