Alex Zanchettin teams up with Tekno RC

Tekno RC have announced the addition of Italy’s Alex Zanchettin to their factory team. Alex’s experience and talent will be a great asset to Tekno’s expanding European team as well as Tekno RC racers in the EU region. His first race will be the Italian Job at IBR Padova, Italy this coming weekend and the former TLR driver had the following to say about the deal:

I would like to thank Daniel Lewis, Ilias Arkoudaris and all Team Tekno for giving me the opportunity to join the team. I’m very excited to get started with all of the new products, and I’m sure we will have many successful years together. I already feel very welcome in the team and I’m looking forward to working with everybody. See you all at the track!

Ruddog Winter Race – Announcement

The inaugural Ruddog Winter Race will take place at the RC-Indoor-Arena track in Köstendorf near Salzburg, Austria on the 29th of January. The 1-day fun event will see 2WD Modified, 2WD 13.5T blinky and 4WD Modified buggy classes and the weekend kicks off with free practice on Friday and Saturday. Robert Batlle to roll on AKA rubber through to 2018

Former IFMAR 1/8th Nitro Buggy World Champion and record National Champion, Robert Batlle has announced another new sponsor for this season with AKA being his official tyre supplier. The Spaniard’s first race for the US company will be this weekend’s The Italian Job Race in Padova, Italy and he has the following to say about the deal:

On the way to Padova for the first race of the year… is the moment to announce that AKA will be our tyres supplier for the next two seasons! I would like to thank Mark Pavidis, Joel Johnson and Bernard Duran to believe in me and my team, the season is going to start, stay tuned!

Christopher Krapp leaves Tamiya/TRF and Team Orion

The latest Tamiya and TRF driver to officially announce his departure from the disbanded race team is Germany’s Christopher Krapp who will also leave long-term electronics sponsors Team Orion. Christopher joined the TRF team in Spring 2015 while his ties with Team Orion span even longer, back into his early days with Kyosho. The German front-runner will soon announce his future plans and in the meantime he has the following to say:

First I want to wish all a happy and healthy New Year! I want to take the moment to announce my departure from Team Tamiya/TRF and Team Orion. I had a great and successful time together with the whole TRF team and I want to thank all my teammates for keeping up with me at that time. Especially I want to thank Kiyokazu Suzuki and Takayuki Kono for being my mechanics and mentors. I also want to thank Team Orion for the awesome support they gave me. I used Team Orion products since I started RC and we had many great moments together. Personal thanks to Oscar Jansen for all his efforts! Now it is time for something new and I am extremely motivated for the new challenge. Look out for the news soon!

Jerome Aigoin to run Xray and Ultimate

Aigoin Racing have announced the signing of French frontrunner, Jerome Aigoin. The former long-time Kyosho pilot and 3-times French National Champion will campaign Xray kits, Ultimate engines and Hudy accessories, joining his brother Yannick in running the Slovakian buggies.

Paolo Morganti and Serpent part ways

Multiple ROAR National Champion Paolo Morganti has announced his departure from Desoto Racing and Serpent, effective immediately. Paolo was the corner stone of the US Serpent onroad team since moving to the US and even held the distribution for a time, so his leaving comes as a bit of a surprise, however we do expect him to announce a new drive in the coming days. Paolo released this statement:

As of today I have decided to quit my position at Desoto Racing and as a result also stop my relationship with Serpent Industries. I am very grateful for the past 17 years with Serpent and i would like to thanks Michael Salven, Ronald Baar, the Lau family and everybody at Serpent for everything they have done for me in all this years.

RC Concept have confirmed Philip Atondo as team driver for 2017. In 2016, Philip was more than happy with the RC Concept engine line, he found what he was always looking for: power, stability, longevity and stability. Philip will travel to all major USA events in 2017 and will be able to support all drivers.

Tamiya USA clarify future of the TRF brand

Following a first statement from Tamiya Japan on the future of TRF, Tamiya USA shed more light on the destiny of the iconic brand. Reading the latest statement and breaking it down to its core information it is understood that Tamiya will continue to produce kits under the Tamiya Racing Factory brand although it will take some time until definite results, in whatever form, may surface.

Lastly, rumors about Tamiya stopping its TRF brand and activities have been circulating within the hobby racing community. However, our most devoted fans must rest assured that Tamiya will continue the development of its TRF products and its activities, albeit in a different way.
