Awesomatix show more 1/12th pan car prototype images

During this week’s 2020 IFMAR 1/12th scale World Championships Awesomatix are showing off their forthcoming all-new 1/12th scale pan car platform. Still in prototype stages the company has yet to finalise the design, however we now got a first taste of what to expect with Awesomatix team manager, Max Mächler having released some images on social media. By the look of things the car will be of a pretty revolutionary design with the obvious absence of a centre shock absorber and tube side damper(s) as they are common for most electric pan cars. The front end is made up using lots of carbon fibre while the uniquely shaped “U” main chassis is made of aluminium on Max’s prototype. Overall the vehicle is of a very low profile design even by the measures of the somewhat extreme 1/12th scale cars with the performance being there from the get go as “new-to-12th-scale” Max seeded 3rd overall in the LMP Spec class. More details are expected to surface during the week.

An introduction to SGP1

This past weekend at RCI V2 in Shanghai, China, running alongside the OneTen Series for touring cars, the all new SGP1 Formula One series kicked off its inaugural season. An ultra fun, team-based series, running realistically painted body-shells to some very unique and interesting rules, all those in attendance seemed genuinely excited to be taking part and while competitive everyone seemed to be having fun, with teams not only competing on the track but off the track too with light hearted banter in the pits. Bringing fun back into RC and getting people back racing F1 was the goal of Rick Wang and Ben Lai and it has been very well received with the limited team spots selling out and a full grid at the opening round. We talked with the man behind SGP1, Rick Wang, to get a clearer insight into the concept and future plans for SGP1.

WellRC Racing WellCut lower cut line tool

The WellRC Racing WellCut on-road lower cut line tool makes quick work of marking accurate lower cut lines on the front and sides of on-road body shells. The 3-D-printed tool uses a standard, but not included Sharpie marker and positions in 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, and 9mm heights are clearly identified at the top of the gauge. To use the tool, insert the marker, select the desired height setting and run the marker along the lower cutting line of the mounted body. The cut line is now clearly marked and allows for the most accurate cutting.

Infinity IF14-2 touring car – Coming soon

Creation Model have released first images of the forthcoming new Infinity IF14-2 touring car kit. The new platform still uses a traditional “rear motor” layout, however the layshaft and spur gear have been moved towards the centre of the chassis which creates a new drivetrain layout that in theory should make for more balanced forward traction under acceleration due to the rear belt being longer and the front belt being shorter compared to traditional rear motor/rear spur gear cars. With the motor still in the rear, the electronics can be spaced much closer together compared to a mid-motor car which makes for a more centralised weight balance as the speed controller does not hang towards the rear as it is the case with most mid-motor cars. Full details on specifications and features will become available in time of the release so for now there is “only” a handful of pretty decent preview images.
