PDX Underground of Portland, Oregon recently held round 4 of the Legends of the Fall series with 60 entries for the six electric off-road classes. In 2WD Mod Buggy it was Yokomo’s Joe Pillars with the overall TQ and he also came out on top in the single 5-minute A-main, leaving behind 3rd place qualifier, Andy DiBrino (Yokomo) in 2nd. Travis Harker (Xray), runner-up after the qualifiers, came in 3rd.

Pro-Line have introduced their new Grunt 1.9” G8 rock terrain truck tyres. Designed for military crawlers the tyre has been designed from the ground up to give military builds the scale looks and performance that you need to outmaneuver the enemy. Coming in at 4.4” tall by 1.4” wide the Grunt 1.9” is the perfect size for single or dually military tyre applications. The tread features alternating rows of three tread blocks that will charge through trenches and take no prisoners. The stepped sidewall not only looks scale but also adds protection from sharp jagged rocks. The Grunt 1.9” tyres are made from Pro-Line’s G8 rock crawling compound and they come in pairs including foam inserts.
Hobby Action Raceway of Chandler, Arizona held the inaugural BK Race this past weekend. Brian Kinwald was a special individual. He lived and breathed RC and at a young age, showed the world that he was not like any other racer on this planet by winning the IFMAR World Championships in Basildon, England, in 1993. That was his first WC title and in 1997, Brian went on to win it again, but this time for Team Losi Racing. With two WC titles and a ton of National titles under his belt, Brian is undoubtedly considered one of the best to hold a radio. But what is truly special about Brian Kinwald is the influence he had on young racers back then and for many decades to come. Unfortunately, the news of Brian passing earlier this year was felt throughout the entire industry.

RC Maker have introduced a carbon fibre variant of their AFEP floating electronics plate for the Awesomatix A800X MMCX touring car. Designed for absolute minimum weight, but still with floating electronic capabilities, the part is weighing in at only 2.5g for the whole plate, which is the perfect solution for those with heavy cars or low weight limits. The new plate is a direct fit on the AFEP system for the MMCX, replacing the brass plate. The new carbon plate is also now available in a set and it comes CNC-machined in Australia from high quality 3K gloss carbon fibre.
Made for the popular no-prep drag racing are Pro-Line’s new Reaction HP SC 2.2”/3.0” belted tyres. Featuring an inner belt reinforcement the tyres will not balloon or expand during use, which will give drivers maximum control to put the power down. They are made of Pro-Line’s popular soft S3 compound for lots of grip and they come including foam inserts and are usable with standard 2.2”/3.0” short course truck wheels. Designed for drag racing they however have a 90 mph or about 7,000RPM speed limit to ensure the inner belt will not become damaged due to excessive speeds.
The 2019/20 Czech Masters Offroad Series will kick off its new season on the 26th of October in the Sport Arena Praha in Praha, Czech Republic. The events will see the running of 2WD and 4WD Buggies, 2WD Stadium Trucks, 2WD SC Trucks as well as a Hobby class. Coming from Pro-Line is their new Avenger HP belted street tyre for 1/8th scale buggies. The tyres were specifically made for 1/8th buggies that love to go fast and will not balloon or expand during use, helping the buggy to go straight and the driver to put the power down. The tyres are pre-mounted on black dish wheels to get drivers up and running immediately. They come in the soft S3 compound and the deep, aggressive grooves built into the tires will help to find grip on most on-road surfaces. Built to go fast, the tyres have a maximum speed rating that, if exceeded, could result in permanently damaging the internal belt. For the Avenger HP tires that is 100 mph or about 8,000 RPM.
