Bruno Coelho crowned 4WD Buggy World Champion

The 4WD portion of last week’s 2019 IFMAR 1/10th Off-road World Championship saw Xray’s Bruno Coelho taking his second 4WD Buggy Worlds title. Held at the iconic Hudy Racing Arena in Trencin, Slovakia the practice sessions saw Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski scoring the fastest time in the free practice sessions with Bruno Coelho and TLR’s Dakotah Phend coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively. The controlled practice then saw HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk on top with the Xray duo of Ty Tessmann and Daniel Kobbevik completing the top 3. The qualifying then was a forth-and-back between Bruno and Dakotah and ultimately it was Bruno with the overall TQ from Dakotah, who piloted a TLR prototype car, while Michal came in 3rd and in front of Daniel Kobbevik. A1 then saw Dakotah taking the win after a great battle, however Bruno would fight back in A2 and A3 to take the 2019 4WD World Championship title, backing his 2015 Worlds title he took in Japan. Dakotah would retain his 2nd qualifying position while Michal came in 3rd to round out the podium result. RC Maker TC & 1/12th anti-tuck stiffeners

Coming from RC Maker are their new anti-tuck body stiffeners for the Protoform Turismo, the ZooRacing range of bodies as well as 1/12th scale pan car lids. Starting with the touring car stiffeners, the new Lite V2 design introduces an even more compact, efficient way of integrating wing mounting and anti tuck components. This system prevents body tucks behind the rear wheel arch during racing, as well as inconsistencies on high speed tracks and in windy conditions, causing the bodyshell to vibrate. The new V2 Lite’s weigh in at only 5g for the pair, this lightweight strut only requires one additional M3 screw other than the wing mounting screw to secure the strut behind the wheel arch. The design also features extra material that sits in the vertical part of the wing strut. In crashes this section of the bodyshell can often crush or deform, and is unable to be repaired. The brace fixes this and prevents deformation in this area, ensuring the body lasts longer.

Juan Carlos Canas takes Spanish 1/8th Nitro Buggy title

History was written at last weekend’s round 4 of the Spanish 1/8th Nitro Buggy Championship when Juan Carlos Canas took the National title by the smallest possible margin, leaving behind 13-times National Champion, Robert Batlle in 2nd overall. Juan Carlos Canas, Robert Batlle and Oscar Baldo would make up the top 3 after the qualifiers at the Antas track, and the 45-minute main final was also a very thrilling affair with Juan Carlos recovering from the end of the field to take the lead from Batlle in the closing stages – the latter suffering a mechanical soon after the pass when his car’s front suspension collapsed. This allowed Juan Carlos to cruise to the win and with it the overall championship, taking the title from 13-times consecutive National Champion, Robert Batlle.

Rebellion-RC BD9 MM mid-motor chassis conversion kit

RC-Carbonstore have announced their latest Rebellion-RC MM mid-motor conversion kit, this time for the popular Yokomo BD9 touring car. The main feature of the upgrade set is the patent pending sliding motor mount design that allows gear mesh adjustment through the chassis bottom, with the narrow design of the whole assembly ensuring the overall motor and battery width remains the same as in the “rear motor” standard car, creating a very centralised weight distribution and less unwanted chassis roll compared to current mid motor conversions. In addition the design makes for an ultra low centre of gravity while allowing integrated flex settings via up to seven motor mount screws. The sliding design also ensures a very wide gear mesh adjustment range, fitting up to 48T pinion and 114T main gears, making the conversion ideal for both stock and modified racing. The final specification of the kit now also incorporates several chassis stiffness adjustment areas that allow to brace the upper and lower deck in front of the rear bulkhead, and in front of the centre shaft – allowing to access complex chassis flex settings. Other features include the possibility to combine the aluminium colour options of black and orange with Rebellion-RC’s full range of carbon fibre twill colours. Not to be forgotten is a floating motor fan mount that attaches to the motor mount and that can be used with standard 30mm and 40mm fan units while not disturbing natural chassis flex. Included with the kit, that is completely made in Austria, also come high-quality Bando Kevlar belts as well as all needed screws and bearings. Not included however is the necessary Xray off-set main gear.
