Ogden & Bornhorst win at 2019 Southern Nationals

The 2019 Southern Nationals were held in West Monroe, Louisiana this past weekend, attracting 400 entries for the usual mix of nitro and electric 1/8th off-road classes. In the premier Pro Nitro Buggy class it was Tekno RC’s Joe Bornhorst with the overall TQ from HB Racing’s Cole Ogden in 2nd place after the qualifiers. The 45-minute A-main event then saw Cole taking the win some two laps in front of HB Racing’s Spencer Heckert as Joe Bornhorst had to settle for 3rd overall, another 18.5 seconds down. Tyler Hooks and Dillon Caldwell came in 4th and 5th respectively.

Fabio Ramos wins at Portuguese 200mm Nats Rd5

The fifth and final round of the Portuguese IC Track Nationals was held at the Radiomodelismo do Porto club over the weekend. In the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring class it was Fabio Ramos with the overall win after a very challenging A—main final from Jose Pequito in 2nd. Paulo Mota would round out the top 3 podium result.

Samix Enduro rear aluminium shock plate

Coming from Samix are the new rear aluminium shock plates for the Element RC Enduro trail truck. Machined from high-quality aluminium and coming anodised in black or gun metal colour for wear and looks, the shock stays offer increased rigidity as well as six different shock mounting locations, allowing to fine-tune the suspension setup to the driver’s liking. The parts come with laser-etched Samix logos and all needed hardware, such as aluminium shock standoffs.

Jon Hazlewood takes EFRA 40+ Nitro Buggy title

The 2019 EFRA 40+ 1/8th Nitro Buggy European Championship was held at the LA Speedway in Landshut, Southern Germany this past weekend. After the four rounds of qualifying it was Simon Reeves with the overall TQ from his fellow countrymen Jon Hazlewood and Simon Willets. Peter Harder from Denmark came in 4th as Daniel Reckward and Andreas Bartels from Germany completed the top 6 results for now. The semifinal B then saw Jon taking the win while in the semi A it was Simon Willets with the fastest time as top qualifier, Simon Reeves only came in 10th, meaning he would not earn a spot in the 45-minute A-main event. The latter was a very close affair and was ultimately won by Agama’s Jon Hazlewood who left behind Mugen’s Stephane Deroch from France, only 2.6 seconds behind. Xray’s Peter Harder came in 3rd, only 0.5 seconds behind Stephane.

Avid B74 -2mm rear carbon fibre shock tower

Avid have introduced a rear carbon fibre shock tower in -2mm configuration for the Team Associated B74 buggy. The shock stay is made from 100 percent carbon fibre and designed to limit the shock up travel to keep the dogbone from hitting the outdrives at full compression. It is machined from 4.0mm thick carbon fibre, matches the stock shock angles and has two small drill holes under the centre hole of the wing mount for notification.

Samix have introduced aluminium front shock mounting plates for the Element RC Enduro trail trucks. Machined from high-quality material and coming anodised for looks and wear, the shock stays incorporate six different shock mounting locations while laser-etched Samix logos and machined silver edge details make the parts stand out. The sets also include a cantilever link mount bracket and they are available in black and gun metal colour.

Portuguese Electric On-road Nationals Rd5 – Report

The 5th and final round of the Portuguese Electric On-road Nationals was held at the AAC track in Coimbra last weekend. In the Touring Car class it was Serpent’s Hugo Miguel with the overall TQ after sweeping the qualifiers by taking all rounds. A1 then was all smooth sailing for Hugo who controlled the race up front, racing on new rubber. A2 was a different affair though. With the other drivers now on new rubber and Hugo running on used tyres, he lacked traction in the opening stages and got into more trouble when he was hit from behind, meaning the decision for the win would be shifted to A3. The final A-main then was a 3-horse battle between Hugo, Mario Miranda (Xray) and Carlos Manuel (Capricorn). After a thrilling race it was Hugo with the win that also meant the overall championship title for him.

Bittydesign Vision MBX8 pre-cut buggy body shell

Bittydesign have introduced their all-new Vision 1/8th nitro buggy body shell for the Mugen MBX8. Designed in collaboration with Nitro Buggy World Champion, Robert Batlle the body will offer an easier to drive and more balanced feeling compared to the Mugen kit body thanks to a new cabin, side pod and rear side flaps design that optimises the aerodynamic characteristics. In addition a flap behind the engine area guides the air towards the rear wing for a smoother and more directed airflow around the shock tower and lower wing mount. The body comes moulded from high-quality 1mm Lexan polycarbonate and it is laser pre-cut to fit all MBX8 and older MBX7 models. Included comes a pre-cut decal sheet as well as window masks.
