Kasekamp & Lainemae win at Estonian Off-road Nats Rd1

Round 1 of the Estonian Off-road Nationals was held at the Tartu RC track recently featuring all sorts of scales, ranging from 1/10th scale up to 1/5th Large Scale, making for ever changing conditions on the astroturf and red clay track. In qualifying it would be Hendrik Lainemae setting the pace in both E-Buggy and Nitro Buggy. The trend would continue in the finals. Nitro Buggy would see a lot of interesting situations for the top drivers. Hendrik would lead the field for the start of the 30-minute final but flamed out on the in-lap for the first round of pit-stops. Karl Kasekamp would take the lead, closely followed by Robin Ilus. Some 14 minutes into the race, Karl would pit after mishearing someone else being called in. Robin Ilus would suffer a flame-out and a shaky last pit stop for Hendrik would give Karl a safe gap to pit an extra time before the end. On the last laps Hendrik would pass Rainer Ressar, who had a mostly clean recovery drive after his 1st lap which dropped him to last, for 2nd position.

Dario Balestri sets the pace in The Netherlands

Infinity’s Dario Balestri set the best three lap time in controlled practice for the 1/8th scale class at Round 2 of the Euro Nitro Series Championship in Rucphen, The Netherlands.  It was very close, however, as less than one tenth of a second covered the top seven drivers over their three lap times. “The car was good, the engine was really good – it was just really difficult to find the right balance” was how the current ENS Champion described the practice sessions.  He will try some more small changes tomorrow “until the car is easy to drive”, aiming to find more rear traction in his IF18.

Vision Racing Products XV3-ST shock pistons

After a year of testing at Thornhill Raceway, Vision Racing Products have introduced the Smooth Track version of their popular 1/8th XV3 Piston, the XV3-ST. This piston design features a slightly slower rebound stroke matched with an improved “connected” compression stroke, resulting in better handling on smooth surfaces. Just like the XV3 and XV3-HT, this is another option for racers to fine tune their car’s suspension from track to track. The ST piston was designed specifically for tracks that don’t break up and remain smooth, and range from low to high grip. Featuring a Patented Design, the new ST piston is simple and easy to use. The VRP XV3-ST line of pistons are available for all the popular 1/8th vehicles in 5, 6, and 8-hole variants.
