2019 April Fools’ Race – Report

The 1st edition of the April Fools’ Race was held last weekend in the capital of Brunei Darussalam, attracting local drivers as well as entries from Malaysia and Vietnam. The race format was four qualifying heats with best three out of four to count. Local driver Brian Lim would dominate the qualifying by TQ’ing the first three rounds and sitting out the final qualifier to prepare his car for the finals. In the 45-minutes final, Brian would lead in the opening stages before a faulty receiver pack dropped him to 3rd and David Lim from Vietnam would be promoted into the lead, battling with Foo from Malaysia for the next ten to 15 minutes. Foo would take the lead with 20 minutes to go and he would go on to win by a lap from Brian Lim in 2nd with David Lim taking 3rd.

Arrowmax IF14 Arrowspace magnesium chassis

The latest addition to Arrowmax’s Arrowspace series of magnesium main chassis plates are extra flex and stiff variants for the Infinity IF14 touring car. About 40 percent lighter and offering greater noise-reducing capabilities than standard aluminium, the chassis also make for different flex characteristics with the extra flex and stiff variant allowing for even greater control over the overall chassis flex. Both chassis feature a white ceramic coating for longer lasting performance.

Italian X-Grip distributors Mikimodel have introduced a new titanium screw kit for the Xray T4’19 touring car. Machined from high-quality grade T2 material the fasteners are highly durable and offer a very low weight. The all-titanium set includes all necessary screws to outfit the T4’19.

Mugen MBX8T carbon fibre shock towers

Mugen have introduced new front and rear carbon fibre shock towers for the MBX8T nitro and MBX8T Eco E-truggy kits. Machined from high-quality material the shock stays are a replacement for the standard aluminium towers, helping to reduce overall weight for an overall lower centre of gravity and thus quicker cornering on high-grip tracks while offering different flex characteristics which can help in a variety of track conditions. T-Works MBX8 front arm reinforcement inserts

T-Works have introduced a set of front arm reinforcement inserts for the Mugen MBX8 buggy. The anti-twist bushings inserts directly into the pivot shaft area of the front wishbones, reinforcing the area for less arm twist in grippy conditions while also ensuring longer arm and suspension pin life in the event of a crash. The black-coated parts sport white T-Works logos and they come in pairs.

Aigoin & Medjoubi win at 3rd annual Fun Race

The French Mini Bolid’ Club Pertuisien track held the third edition of its Fun Race this past weekend. Over the year the season opening race has become an integral part in the race programme of many French top pilots and this year was no exception. In the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class, attracting over 70 entries, it was Tom Robin with the overall TQ from Jerome Aigoin and Eliot Marcon, however in the super-tight 20-minute A-main final it was Yannick Aigoin with the win a lap in front of Patrick Auvient Jr. Rayan Medjoubi came in 3rd only some five seconds behind. Eliot Marcon and Maxime Noble would round out the top 5 only a lap behind the leader.

Thomas Eytard wins at French On-road regionals

A round of the French Nitro On-road regionals was held at the Bourg-en-Bresse track in the east of the country last weekend. In the 1/8th IC Track Open category it was Xray/Sigma’s Thomas Eytard with the win in the A-main from his Xray/Sigma teammates, Maxime Ripoll and Joel Gulling.

7075.it Air Killer+ battery-powered vacuum pump

Coming from 7075.it is the Air Killer+, a battery-powered variant of their popular Air Killer shock and differential vacuum pump system. Constructed from high-quality aluminium and coming in a 88mm tall 1/10th on-road and 156mm tall 1/8th and 1/10th off-road variant, the devices are powered by a CR123 battery, making them independent from any other power source which makes for greater versatility and less wire clutter on the pit table. The off-road variant includes a flippable insert for both 1/10th and 1/8th off-road shocks and it is also usable for forcing traction compounds into 1/12th scale tyres using the vacuum. The Air Killer+ comes including the popular Monaco RC bag for convenient storage and transportation.
