Kevin Nielsen secures early Danish TC title

Round 6 of the Danish Electric On-road Nationals was held in Skanderborg last weekend. In the Touring Super Stock class it was Xray’s Kevin Nielsen with the overall TQ and the young man was also able to bring home the wins in all three A-mains for the day’s win. Awesomatix’s Frederik Mikkelsen came in 2nd from Xray driver Patrick Folman in 3rd. The victory at the penultimate round also secured Kevin the national championship title with one round to spare.

Tamiya TT-02 oil-filled gear differential

Coming soon from Tamiya is an oil-filled gear differential unit for the TT-02 entry-level touring car kit. Sold as a complete kit, the set included composite gear and housing, gaskets, O-rings, gears, screws, outdrives and bearings. Also included is a bottle of oil. The gear diff will fit all TT-02 style chassis.

Pedro Gomes doubles at Portuguese Cup

The 1/10th Electric Off-road Portuguese Cup was held last weekend at the RC Oeste indoor carpet track. In the 2WD Buggy qualifiers, it was Xray’s Pedro Gomes who would take the TQ by winning three of the four qualifiers, closely followed by Kyosho’s Joao Figueiredo. In the final Pedro would bring home the overall after the first to finals, leaving behind Team Associated’s Nuno Casal Ribeiro in 2nd and Joao Figueiredo 3rd.

2019 Desert Classic – Report

This past weekend the 2019 Desert Classic was held at Chandler, Arizona’s Hobby Action R/C Raceway, one of the hotbeds for RC talent. Powered by some of the biggest names in the industry and multiple World Champions like Ryan Maifield, Spencer Rivkin, and legend Brian Kinwald to name a few. To be fast at Hobby Action, it requires the latest and greatest in tire prep and technologies. Some say “burning in your tires” all started in Arizona and this weekend witnessed the first major application of tire warmers for off-road use. Either way, things are on the cutting edge and the competitiveness is always among the highest in Arizona, but somehow the atmosphere is still super friendly and relaxed in the pits making it a weekend of great racing and quality family and friends time. Because of its large size, Hobby Action has one of the fastest paces to offroad racing anywhere in the world. The smooth surface combined with slick tires makes for an ultra-fast feeling of being on the edge and spinning out of control.

Elliott Boots signs with SWorkz

SWorkz have announced the signing of former long-time Kyosho driver, Elliott Boots. The former EFRA European Champion 1/8th Buggy Champion will campaign SWorkz’s 1/8th and 1/10th scale platforms and he has the following to say about the deal:

I am very excited to join the Sworkz team for 1:8 and 1:10. I am very thankful for this opportunity and excited for my first race with my new team. Also looking forward to making new friends and team mates.

Picco .21 Buggy Blast Race Ceramic engine

Kyosho Europe have introduced the new Picco .21 Buggy Blast Race Ceramic nitro off-road engine. The 3.5cc power plant builds on the Blast Team edition engine, however is comes with a standard non-DLC crankshaft but a new generation vacuum injection-moulded crankcase for greatly improved stability of the engine. Other features include a new piston and sleeve whose new manufacturing process and materials ensure better wear resistance and consistency.

To celebrate the first anniversary of their brand, MonacoRC have introduced their all-new trucker cap. The white front hosts the MonacoRC embroidered logo while the red bill is decorated with a red cord. The back is made in blue mesh to complete the MonacoRC signature colours. The snap back hat allows for easy size-adjustment and it is available from now on.

Jean-Pierrick Sartel wins at French E-Buggy opener

The opening round of the French 1/8th E-Buggy National Championship was held at the EMC Reims indoor clay track last weekend. Over 100 drivers signed in and it was Xray’s Jean-Pierrick Sartel who would be in control of things all day, sweeping the qualifiers for the overall TQ in front of HB Racing’s Romain Valter and Mugen’s Stephane Deroch. After the triple A-mains it was still JP on top to take the day’s win from Romain in 2nd. Stephane would round out the podium in 3rd and in front of Cyril Baldini and Felix Koegler.
