Alex Thurston wins BRCA IC Track Nats Rd8

Round 8 of the 2018 BRCA IC Track Nationals was held at the Wombwell track last weekend. Tim Wood (Shepherd) was the man to beat in qualifying with Alex Thurston (Serpent) in a close 2nd. In time for the main final a heavy down pour soaked the track and after a 10-minutes delay the race would finally start off. At first Alex was dropping back due to an aggressive clutch setting, however after putting full rain tyres on he was able to significantly up his pace and ultimately he brought home the win by over five laps after the 30-minutes final. Andy Hastings (Shepherd) came in 2nd while Michael Walton (Xray) rounded out the top 3.

Protoform Vulcan wide Pro10 body shell

Coming soon from Protoform is their all-new Vulcan body shell for wide Pro10 pan cars. Taking the successful Swift-235 body as a base, the Vulcan sports new features and extra clearance to allow the use with “wide” 235mm chassis. The body takes some aero inspiration from its larger cousin, the world-championship winning R19. A large centre fin was added for increased high-speed stability on larger outdoor tracks, while the sculpted side panels increase side bite. To tune aero balance, an add-on adjustable gurney flap is included, and recessed areas at the top of the side dams will allow for flush-fitting optional vertical side dam extensions. Measuring 227mm across the front and 239mm across the rear, the Vulcan’s wide track width and long rear side panels are sure to fit nearly any Pro10 chassis around the world, while two heights of trim lines are inscribed for different sizes of tyres.

O-Town RC Raceway recently held their series finale and in the NitroBuggy A-main it was TLR’s Dakota Phend and Xray’s Mark Sousa who started to break away from the rest of the field early in the race. Eventually Mark was able to make a move while both were going through traffic. After that the two battled for a bit and then Dakota would have a few mistakes which would allow Sousa to pull away and open up a good lead. After some swift pitstops Mark was able to take the win with Dakota Phend 2nd and Mugen’s Sam Langer 3rd.
