Vigor BD8-2018 carbon chassis, top deck & shock towers

Made for Yokomo’s popular BD8-2018 touring car are Vigor RC’s new carbon fibre main chassis, top deck and shock towers. The chassis is of an updated design with larger cut-outs under the diffs for increased torsional flex and thus improved steering and traction in lower bite track conditions. The chassis is cut from 2.25mm high-quality carbon fibre and a direct fit. Also new is a narrow-design 2.0mm carbon fibre upper deck. The item sports updated outlines for an overall slimmer appearance and thus increased torsional flex, again helping with steering and traction in lower grip conditions. A direct replacement for the standard upper deck the part can be mixed and matched with any chassis type. Last but not least come new front and rear shock towers for the use with short shock absorbers.

Vigor RC IF14 multi carbon battery mount

Vigor RC have introduced their new multi carbon battery mount for the Infinity IF14 touring car. The tweak-free battery mounting system is constructed from carbon fibre and aluminium and it does away with the need to use tape to strap the battery into the chassis in favour of a mount that only slightly touches the upper parts of the battery. The result is more natural and equal flex left to right while the overall design also allows to shift the battery forth and back in order to fine-tune the car’s weight balance.

Rebellion-RC BD8-2018 carbon fibre conversion set

Made for the popular Yokomo BD8 touring cars is Rebellion-RC’s new carbon fibre conversion kit. Designed to fit both the 2018 and 2017 vehicles, the set contains a new carbon fibre chassis whose special design with milled pockets for additional silicone cushions allows for optimised flex characteristics while retaining a low centre of gravity. Also part of the package are reduced thickness 3.0mm front and rear shock towers – doing away with the standard 3.5mm items. The parts are of a plain design without countersunk holes which is known to improve overall stability. Next up is an updated upper bumper plate for improved crash resistance and better main chassis protection while the upper top decks are available in three different designs and in 2.5mm, 2.2mm, 2mm or 1.5mm thickness. All items are also available separately, they are CNC-machined from highest quality carbon fibre and they come in a total of twelve different colours. All parts fit both the 2018 and 2017 model, however due to the updates Yokomo made between the two model years the motor mount sits in the “2018 position” when using the chassis in the older 2017 specification kit.

Bruno Coelho crowned 1/8th Nitro Buggy Euro Champ

The 2018 EFRA 1/8th Nitro Buggy European Championship was held in Portugal this past week. Qualifying at the Radiomodelismo de Freixedas track was dominated by Davide Ongaro as the Italian phenomenon swept all five rounds of qualifying to put a vice like grip on this 1/8th IC Off Road European Championship. Reigning European Champions Robert Batlle qualified 2nd, and was Davide’s closet challenger though never getting within five seconds of his time. Bruno Coelho was a surprise 3rd overall the versatile Portuguese eliciting the help of Ty and Gord Tessman over from Canada to help set up and run his car, with instant results as when left to just do the stick work there are few Bruno’s equal. Reigning world champion David Ronnefalk had a torrid time in qualification with poor tyre choices and failures leaving him to scrape into 4th overall, still without a decent set-up. Juan Carlos Canas was our 5th qualifier, and left rueing what might have been when a miscommunication in round 2 saw him come in to the pits when he still had another lap to complete, those lost points would have put him 3rd. The one factor none of the drivers could avoid was the oppressive heat, with 38°C all thru Friday and the chance that the finals would be even hotter.
