JQRacing Black Edition low rear shock tower

Coming from JQRacing is a new low rear shock tower for the Black Edition buggy. The shock stay sports lower shock mounting holes which reduces up travel slightly while making it easier to achieve the correct down travel. Drivers can screw the shock end on all the way, which adds safety. For smooth tracks, owners can also try adding one additional shock O-ring on the shock shaft, to reduce up travel further and the correct shock length to run is 120-121mm with this tower. As for the upper links, the stock middle hole is the same as the lowest hole on this tower. This means that there is one higher row on the new low tower. This can be good to run in high grip or bumpy conditions, where team drivers raise the hub with the middle insert.

Kyosho Inferno MP9e Evo 1/8th E-Buggy kit

Kyosho Europe have released first images of their forthcoming Inferno MP9e Evo 1/8th electric buggy kit. The vehicle builds on the successful, 8-times World Championship-winning MP9 and MP9e platform but features a redesigned chassis layout with a very forward-moved weight bias as components such as the steering servo, radio box and speed controller are located towards the front axle while the motor is now in a mid-ship position. The highly regarded flat control and aerial posture of the previous model has been maintained while a forward weight shift has improved balance for optimised handling. In addition, subtle changes to the battery mount create a lower centre of gravity that combines with the race-tested body design of the MP9e Evo to deliver superior cornering, traction, and rough surface performance required of a racing buggy to perform successfully at the highest level. The kit features the front and rear suspension and drive systems from the latest Inferno MP9 TKI4 10th Anniversary Special Edition and the layout of the A7075T6 hard anodised aluminium chassis fas been specifically designed for the MP9e Evo to optimise weight distribution for electric power performance and a lower centre of gravity.

Daniel Kobbevik takes double Norwegian 1/8th title

This year it was Sandefjord RC Club, that was going to host the Norwegian National 1/8th Off-road Championship for 2018. The event saw the running of the nitro and electric class at the same weekend and the race was very well organised with the good and warm weather further adding to the whole fun. Xray’s Daniel Kobbevik was one of the pre-event favourites as he had a clear winning streak going into the event. However he would only arrive late on Friday evening for a short shakedown of the cars and his strategy was to use the qualifiers to learn the layout and find the right setup and speed. The strategy worked out perfect, and already in first qualifier round Daniel was the only one to score a 10-laps run. The only other driver with a 10-laps run in qualification was Xray driver Lars Erik Mo. Daniel carried on in tremendous speed and would ultimately win all rounds both in 1/8 electric and nitro, all 10lap runs, so already on Saturday he was top qualifier in both categories.

Urban Touring Series Rd3 – Report

The Urban Touring Series returned to the rooftop circuit at Urban PlaySpace this past Sunday. This round marked the halfway stage of the 5-race series, and most of the racers in the top-10 of the championship ranking list entered. Anticipation was therefore high as to who would take the win and assume the lead in the overall championship rankings. The day started off overcast, but thankfully dry. After a short open practice session, racers hit the track for the first of three rounds of qualifying. Out of the gate, it was clear that young Sean Lee meant business as he showed tremendous pace to challenge regular front-runners Dominic Quek and PY Tang. Another youngster, Koh Boon Yang, was also translating his recent practice track time to a strong showing.
