HB Racing off-road ride height gauge

HB Racing have introduced their new off-road ride height gauge for 1/10th and 1/8th vehicles. The design offers two modes for measuring, the standard setting uses a thumbscrew to lock the ride height setting of the gauge, allowing racers adjust the ride height until it matches the desired value. The Active Measurement Mode uses the precise weight balance of the measurement arm so that racers can loosen the thumb screw and slide the tool under the car. The measurement arm pivots on dual ball bearings, and it will touch the bottom of the chassis and show the ride height in real time as it is moved under the car. The tool is machined from aluminium and it comes with a hard anodised surface for durability. The height markings are laser- etched for quick and easy adjustment and the measurement arm can be unscrewed for compact storage.

Nicholas Lee wins Race the Roof Friday

The Race the Roof Friday 2WD Buggy Bash race was held last Friday at the Urban PlaySpace rooftop outdoor track high above the city of Singapore and it was late entry, Nicholas Lee, who took the win. Running the rocket round qualifying format, Esmail Apandi secured the TQ by some two seconds over Nicholas Lee. Jody Long qualified 3rd, while Dominic Quek took the last direct A-main spot in 4th. In the finals, Fazly Ibrahim and Andrew Tow bumped-up from the B-Main to make the 6-car A-main. In A1, Jody Long came through from P3 to take the win ahead of Nicholas and Esmail. In A2, Esmail secured a convincing win ahead of Nicholas, with Jody in 3rd. This set the stage for an exciting A3. Pole-sitter Esmail had to fend of hard-charging Dominic for the lead in the early part of the race, with Nicholas close behind in 3rd. In a well executed pass, Dominic took over the lead from Esmail who then lost 2nd to Nicholas with a mistake later on. Just when it looked like there would be a 3rd different winner in the A-main, an unfortunately marshalling incident saw a flipped car placed in the path of leader, Dominic. This allowed Nicholas to go through and eventually seal the win. Esmail finished in 2nd while Jody came through for 3rd. Dominic Quek, Fazly Ibrahim and Andrew Tow completed the A-main results.

Robert Batlle wins Montpellier GP

The annual Montpellier GP, European season opener for the 1/8th off-road class, was held in France this past weekend. As usual the event attracted most of Europe’s 1/8th off-road aces and it was Italy’s Riccardo Berton (Kyosho) who would take the overall TQ courtesy of winning the opening three qualifiers. Spain’s Juan Carlos Canas (Mugen) would come in 2nd after the qualifiers. In the main final it was the duo of Davide Ongaro and Juan Carlos Canas who obtained the top spots, however from the depth of the field it was Mugen’s Robert Batlle who was after a fourth Montpellier win and so he would keep his head down and ultimately was able to get past the duo of Juan and Davide who weren’t able to challenge Robert. In the end Batlle would take the win from Juan Carlos 2nd and Davide 3rd as Riccardo Berton and David Ronnefalk (HB Racing) rounded out the top 3 podium result.
