Fenix X12’18 aluminium & carbon fibre options

Fenix Racing have introduced a range of aluminium and carbon fibre option parts for the Xray X12’18 pan car. First up is a slim aluminium main chassis that is narrower than the standard part for reduced chassis scrub during cornering. In addition the removal of the front ride height shims is now also simplified thanks to machined holes under the front suspension. Another new part is the open design motor pod made from aluminium. The part was developed for the use with the optional upper nerf bar that is available in aluminium or carbon fibre. Last but not least is a specially designed O-ring battery mount that holds the battery pack in a transversal position while allowing for easier battery removal. Thanks to its updated design the link and pivot screws are much easier to access for less stress in the pits and the part comes in aluminium or carbon fibre which allows to slightly influence overall chassis flex.

BRCA LMP Nationals Rd4 – Report

Last weekend saw the running of round four of the BRCA LMP12 nationals. The meeting took place at a new venue for the series, Dorset Model Car Club. The club is based on the south coast of England in the harbour town of Poole. The track laid out was a beautifully flat and technical track and used the GT style carpet. Over the past years the ETS style carpet has become common in Britain, but the GT carpet is still a real favourite with racers. In the 13.5T class David Spashett had a chance to seal the championship two rounds early if he won the meeting, and in Modified Alexander Hagberg was back to see if he could claim win number two of the season.

Picco V1-3518 & S1-1218 nitro engines

Coming from Picco are the new V1-3518 Team DLC Ceramic and S1-2918 Team nitro engines. Starting with the V1-3518, the power plant is an updated version of the engine that won last year’s 1/8th Buggy Euros in Sweden. The 5-port cylinder, paired with the long stroke design, provides plenty of power throughout the whole power band. The crankshaft received an DLC treatment in order to increase its durability even in the most demanding off-road situation and it rotates in a Swiss-made ceramic rear bearing. The carburettor sports the latest double bottom-end adjustment for fine-tuning and improved reliability and the engine is rounded out by a new cooling head design.

Burak Kilic wins at OWL Messe Cup

The annual OWL Messe Cup was held in Bad Salzuflen, Germany this past weekend. The event was run along a public fair which ensured a good exposure to possible newcomers. In the 1/10th 2WD Buggy class it was Schumacher’s Burak Kilic who took the TQ spot from his brother Berkan (Schumacher), despite the two not making it in time for Friday morning’s practice due to school obligations. In the triple 8-minute A-mains things were pretty close between the brothers as Burak took the win in A1 while Berkan came out on top in A2. In the third and final A-main it came to a rear showdown in the closing stages but it was the pole setter who held the upper hand to take the day’s win from Berkan in 2nd and Sophie Müller (Xray) in 3rd.

Thanks to Abdullah Kilic for the report.
