Yardy & Williams win at Silverstone Winter Series Rd2

Round 2 of the competitive Silverstone Winter Series again attracted a full entry with many of the best British Off-road drivers. With 92 entries in 2WD, Tom Yardy TQ’d two of the four qualifying rounds with Ellis Stafford and Jack Neal taking one each. In the final Tom pulled out a big lead with a faultless drive. Jack Neal made it a 1-2 for Schumacher and Richard Barton moved up to 3rd with his Team Associated.

Available soon from Tamiya and made for the M07 Concept M-chassis kit are low-profile carbon fibre shock towers and a carbon fibre bumper support plate. The shock towers are specifically designed for the use with the short TRF dampers and they include all necessary hardware such as screws, pivot balls and washers. As for the carbon fibre bumper support, like the shock towers it comes machined from high-quality material and it includes all needed screws and washers.

Dash R-Tune 540-size brushless motor

Arrowmax have introduced the Dash R-Tune 540-size sensored competition brushless motor. It features a high airflow design with large cooling openings in the machined aluminium case for improved cooling efficiency and less power fading even when using low turn windings in high ambient temperatures. The redesigned stator further adds to the overall performance, increasing torque and reducing heat build-up. The motor is available in 4.5T to 9.5T Modified and 10.5T to 21.5T Stock variants with each featuring a specific setup to ensure maximum drivability and feel.

Xray RX8 Kevlar-reinforced front & rear belts

Coming from Xray and made for the RX8 1/8th on-road kit are Kevlar-reinforced front and rear belts. The specially designed drivetrain belts are very thin and elastic and they therefore greatly improve the drivetrain efficiency. The 6.0mm x 204mm front and 8.0mm x 204mm rear belts are available separately.

Maifield tops free practice in China

Ryan Maifield has topped free practice at the 1:10 4WD Offroad World Championships in China.  The newly crowned 2WD World Champion set the fastest time in the fourth & final round of free practice at Xiamen ARC International Raceway with just over a tenth of a second advantage over Bruno Coelho, the reigning 4WD Champion also registering his quickest time in FP4.  Having found himself at the top of the time sheets after three rounds, Joern Neumann would end up third overall after failing to better his FP3 time.  The early place setter after the first two practices, David Ronnefalk would have issues in the final practice, completing just 5-laps. Second fastest in FP3, that time would leave him 5th fastest behind Ty Tessmann and ahead of Naoto Matsukura who completed the Top 6.

DJ Apolaro teams up with KO Propo & Absolute Hobbyz

U.S. KO Propo distributors Absolute Hobbyz have announced the signing of 2-times ROAR National Gas On-road Champion, DJ Apolaro to their team. The US frontrunner and former Spectrum driver will use KO Propo radio systems and electronics from now on and he had the following to say about the deal:

I would first like to thank Kevin and John at Spektrum for the years of support. I always had great communication with the team and we always found ways to TQ and Win many events together. I wish them the best moving forward and also look forward to my new venture. I felt it was time for moving on and after careful consideration, I choose Ko Propo for all my new electronics. 175RC 1/10th off-road titanium lower arm stud kit

175RC have introduced the billet machine grade 5 titanium lower arm stud kit for 1/10th 2WD buggies or trucks. This option is not only super light but also increases strength in the rear arms because the driver is not repeatedly threading a screw in and out when removing the shocks. The set includes two grade 5 titanium studs with .050 drive, a pre-thread screw/depth setter and two aluminium flanges locknuts that are available in seven different colours and it fits kits such as the B6, B64, 22 4.0, YZ-2, RB6.6 and XB2.

Ronnefalk sets early 4WD pace at World Championships

David Ronnefalk has set the early pace at the 1:10 Offroad World Championships in China as the 17th running of the event switches to 4WD.  With a day off following the crowning of Ryan Maifield as the 2WD Champion, today’s action sees 4 rounds of free practice followed by two rounds of controlled practice in between which there will be a 2-hour break for the official opening ceremony. Having secured 5th overall in 2WD despite taking the win in A3, Ronnefalk would set the fastest 3-consecutive laps in the second of the free practices with the track now running in the opposite, clockwise direction to that used in 2WD.  Behind the HB Racing driver, Xray’s Ty Tessmann was second fastest being just over 1/10th of a second slower with Maifield kicking off his 4WD campaign much stronger than 2WD with the third fastest time. TLR’s Dakotah Phend made it four different cars at the top of the times sheets with Bruno Coelho and Renaud Savoya completing the Top 6 with Ryan Cavalieri the fastest Associated driver in 7th.
