MRO Racing announce Inspire2 2WD Buggy project

MRO Racing, the company behind the radical ultra low profile design Inspire4 1:10 4WD buggy project, has announced it is also working on a 2WD Buggy.  While emphasising that the Inspire project is still some time away from reaching final production stages, MRO Racing say the philosophy they are pursuing is comparable to that of Gerd Strenge at the beginning of 2000 with his Team Durango.  That is to build a small series, mostly at their own premises, and try to win over a small number of drivers.  Announcing earlier this year that Strenge had joined the project to bring his extensive knowledge of RC car manufacturing, like the Inspire4 the 2WD is designed entirely by David Orbell.  Currently working with one early stage Inspire2 prototype they are using a heavily modified Inspire4, configured as a 2WD, to validate several of the core design concepts.  Ttrack testing with the modified Inspire4 they have benchmarked handling and setup flexibility gaining valuable data to feed back into the Inspire2’s prototype design.  The dedicated Inspire2 prototype is now moving into its own test phase.  Giving an overview of the Inspire2, MRO Racing say it ‘builds on the knowledge and DNA we developed with the Inspire4, but takes things further with its own unique innovations’ adding it is, ‘designed to respond predictably and effectively to setup changes with a large operational window.’  It will feature a conventional chassis layout, but with their own unique spin on packaging and geometry and what they claim is ‘the lowest center of gravity ever achieved in a 2WD buggy format.’  As can be seen by the released Inspire2 CAD images it has a low-drag, high-downforce bodywork to maximise aero efficiency.

Ben Mohamed & Boda crowned French 1:10 Champions

Schumacher driver Noha Ben Mohamed and Team Associated’s Clément Boda are the 2025 French 1:10 Offroad National Champions.  Fresh from their impressive A-Main performances at the inaugural 1:8 Electric Offroad World Championship in Barcelos, Portugal, the two drivers travelled to Grenoble to battle one another for the titles at the conclusion of the French National Championship.  In 2WD it was Boda who secured the TQ ahead of Ben Mohamed after taking 4 of the 5 qualifiers.  While Boda took A1,  Ben Mohamed got the win in A2 meaning it came down to A3 but 20-year-old Boda would take it and the title.  In 4WD it was Ben Mohamed who dominated qualifying taking all five rounds but again the finals came down to A3.  Under intense pressure from Boda, Ben Mohamed would hold on to take it by 4/10ths of a second securing the 16-year-old his second win of the season and the overall title.
