This past weekend the first round of the Onroad Piston Cup was held at the the Raco2000 track in Utrecht, The Netherlands. The race started on Saturday in cold but dry conditions and the damp track would soon start to dry, allowing for good practice conditions. On the weekend the club also hosted the second round of the German LeMans Series so all drivers had the chance for some timed practice too. On Sunday the racers were greeted by a sunny sky, almost no wind and a dry track. Racing was mainly down to the guest Pro10 LeMans series cars and the Formula class as there were no entries for the 1/8th and 1/10th nitro classes with the 1/5th scale Touring class also only attracting two drivers.

TWT have introduced their Ronald Völker signature setup board for 1/10th scale vehicles. At 430x350mm it is bigger than TWT’s standard boards and it features a plain middle section without the usual toe and wheelbase grids but a left-hand compartment for the company’s setup stand as well as right-hand, foam-cladded parts trays for screws, nuts and other small parts. Furthermore the board comes with a scale to make trimming battery tape easy and it also sports graphics for easy washer, bearing and screw size identification. In addition to the board as you can see it here it is also available in other designs and layouts. The introduction of the Ronald Völker edition setup board comes hot on the heels of the German’s signing with TWT. The Yokomo driver inked a 3-year contract with the Thai company to use their range of pit accessories while also helping with product development.

Coelho cruises to A1 win

Coelho cruises to A1 win

New Euro Offroad Series Champion Bruno Coelho produced a faultless drive in the opening 4WD A-Main at the season finale in Germany to win by a massive 5.7-seconds margin.   Starting from pole, the Xray driver quickly established a lead over outgoing champion Lee Martin, leaving the Yokomo to come under attack from Martin Wollanka.  With the second place battle the biggest entertainment of the race, two mistakes from Martin would ultimately give Wollanka the position.  The Austrian would resist a late charge from Martin to make it an Xray 1-2, the gap as they crossed the line 3/10ths of a second.

Coelho secures EOS title with Nurburgring TQ

Bruno Coelho is the new Euro Offroad Series 4WD Champion.  The championship rookie guaranteed himself the title by securing the bonus TQ championship point this morning at the Nurburgring.  The qualifying outcome and more importantly denying Lee Martin the overall TQ means that irrespective of the outcome of this evening’s A-Main at the season finale the title will be going to the World Champion.  The same venue Coelho made his EOS debut last September, this championship marks the first EOS title for his Xray team who become only the third manufacturer to win the high profile 1:10 Offroad championship.

Cavalieri gives B6 debut win at EOS Nurburgring

Ryan Cavalieri has claimed a debut victory for Team Associated’s new B6 on its competition debut as he took victory at the season finale of the Euro Offroad Series at the Nurburgring.  A race that was wide open going into the third A-Main,  Cavalieri would take his first EOS victory with a late second place behind back to back champion Lee Martin, the final winner having to be decided by the fastest race winning time which Cavalieri would have from his A2 win.  With Martin having to settle for second, the podium in Germany would be completed by young star of the future Joona Haatanen who before a clash with his team-mate Cavalieri would have taken the overall win.  For Top Qualifier Neil Cragg, things didn’t improve after the disaster that was A1 and 8th in A3, that is where he would finish up overall on a weekend that started out so well for the Team Associated driver.
