Serpent 748 shock towers & big bore shocks

Serpent have introduced new optional parts for the suspension of the 748 1/10th 200mm nitro on-road car. Coming are 3.0mm front and 3.5mm rear carbon fibre shock towers that allow the use of the optional big bore shock absorbers of the Eryx 4.0 electric touring car. The shock towers are direct replacements and the shocks offer machined pistons, machined spacers and an improved seal package with X-rings. The result are easier to build and super-smooth shock absorbers for optimised track performance. The shock towers as well as the 4-piece shock set are available separately.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of their company, Japanese nitro engine makers O.S. have introduced the Speed 21 XZ-B Spec.II Gold Edition engine. Based on the standard Spec.II the limited edition engine features a gold-anodised cooling head with black-colour lettering. Limited to 100 pieces World-wide the Gold Edition engine is available separately or including a Japan-made EFRA 2042 T-2060SC pipe.

Cole Ogden wins Speed RC opening race

Speed RC Raceway, the all-new facility of TJ Bell and former Formula 1 and now Global RallyCross driver, Scott Speed held its opening race this past weekend in Mooresville, North Carolina. The TQ in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class went to Kyosho’s Jared Tebo with Mugen’s Cole Ogden qualifying for the 2 spot. At the tone Tebo jumped into the lead while Ogden dropped back to 5th. Later Cole would be able to catch up and to take the lead and after a couple of swaps up front due to wrecking, Cole would take the win with Jared in second. Tekno RC’s Barry Pettit completed the top 3 result.

Coming from Arrowmax are limited edition 7th anniversary tools in a special bi-colour anodising. Based on the company’s popular Honeycomb tools the wrenches sport black and gold anodised handles to make them stand out from the crowd. Hardened and specially anodised tool tips reduce wear with the range including 1.5mm to 3.0mm hex wrenches, 2.0mm and 2.5mm ball hex wrenches, 5.5mm and 7.0mm nut drivers as well as a body reamer and the multi shock clamp V2. A limited edition run the tools are available only as 10-piece combo set including a zipped, reinforced tool bag.

TLR 22 3.0 ultra light bodyshell

Horizon Hobby have introduced an ultra light bodyshell for the TLR 22 3.0 2WD buggy. Moulded from thinner polycarbonate material than the standard kit item the body is meant to scrub a good amount of weight for improved performance especially in Stock classes while the overall lower centre of gravity can also be beneficial when running on high-bite surfaces. Included in the set are the pre-cut body and rear wing, an add-on rear fin as well as mounting hardware, pre-cut window masks and a decal sheet.

Roche Rapide F1 aluminium chassis & pod plate

Coming from Roche and made for their Rapide F1-16 formula car are an aluminium main chassis and lower pod plate. Both parts are machined from 7075-T6 aluminium, they come gun metal anodised and are made to reduce the chassis flex for improved performance and a more stable and easier to drive car on medium to high-bite tracks. Both parts are available separately and they become available by end of April.

Hartson & Root win at JBRL Electric Series Rd2

The second round of the 2016 JBRL Electric Series was held at SDRC Raceway in San Diego, California this past Saturday. Once again the race attracted a good mixture of local talent and internationally experienced racers and in the 2WD Open Buggy class it was 2013 IFMAR 4WD Buggy World Champion, Steven Hartson who took the overall win from Brent Thielke in second and Casey Becica in third.

Winter Jumps 2016 finale – Report

The final round of the Winter Jumps series was held this past weekend in Helsinki during the Model Expo hobby show. The track was laid out using “EOS carpet” and lots of jumps, making for a fun weekend of racing. The event started with controlled practice of the 2WD class followed by three rounds of qualifying of which the best one would count. Joel Valander would come out fastest from Jörg Tiit and Joona Haatanen. In the opening A-main Joel would take a comfortable win but Joona stroke back in A2, shifting the decision for the overall win to the third and final A-main that Jörg would lead in the early stages. Joel got a very unlucky mechanical failure that allowed Joona to take the win and with it the overall victory. Joel ended the day on the runner-up spot from third placed Markku Honkanen.
