Roche Rapide P12-2016 alloy chassis & pod plate

Roche Rapide P12-2016 alloy chassis & pod plate

Roche have introduced an aluminium chassis and lower motor pod plate for the Rapide P12-2016 1/12th scale kit. Both parts are machined from 2.5mm 7075-T6 aluminium and they come gun metal anodised and with silver chamfered edges for looks. Using the parts lowers the centre of gravity due to adding weight at the lowest possible area of the car while the increased stiffness makes for optimised on-track performance especially in high-bite track conditions.

Kurzbuch regains ENS title with 3-in-a-row

sun_WinSimon-770x462

Inaugural Euro Nitro Series Champion Simon Kurzbuch has regained his crown over the four round onroad nitro championship. The Shepherd driver secured the 2016 1:8 title with a perfect score of three wins, the latest of which came at the Austrian round in Aigen today with another great display of driving from the World Champion.  Top Qualifier for the third visit to the high altitude track, Kurzbuch would come under a stronger than expected challenge from the reigning champion Dario Balestri, the Capricorn driver leading a number of time throughout the 45-minute encounter. In the end however as drivers strategies played out it was Kurzbuch that took an expected win 4-seconds up from Balestri, with Robert Pietsch completing the podium as the top five finished in the same order they started.

Leino wins ENS Austria to give Infinity first win

sun_winteemuy-1-770x462

Having been in a class of his own all weekend, Teemu Leino has capped off a perfect performance at the third round of the Euro Nitro Series with victory in Austria.  A repeat of his 2015 result at the Aigen track, this time round the win was more convincing and one which will go down in his team’s history as it mark’s nitro onroad newcomers Team Infinity’s first win as a manufacturer.  Starting from the TQ, Leino came under the attention of Serpent’s Dominic Greiner early on as the pair pulled clear of the 12-car field.  However having just made his first tyre stop, Greiner’s race would come to an abrupt end as the rear right axle bearing assembly parted company with the car as he chased Leino.  That left Leino to drive a calculated race to claim his second consecutive win of the season and put himself into serious contention for the title that is currently held by his absent from Austria team-mate Jilles Groskamp.  Behind Leino, Erik Dankel would keep him honest eventually finishing 10-seconds back to make a much welcomed return to the podium for the former champion, that podium being completed by Thilo Tödtmann.

Saturday saw many drivers turn up to try and get their cars set up well, the weather was overcast but at least it was mainly dry, just the odd shower around during the day. There was heavy rain just as the track was about to close about 5pm. Sunday morning arrived and the drivers were greeted by a slightly damp race track. The weather stayed overcast and cloudy but dry for the rest of the day. As usual the organisers then had the open practice session for an hour and then it was into qualifying mode which was the regular format of round by round qualifying, with two from four rounds to count. This being the last round of the series and also ran in conjunction with the KO GP, the entry was looking very good with 10 heats of drivers booked in.
