Autumn Shoot Out Rd1 – Report

Sunday saw the start of the UK based Autumn Shoot Out series. Run by the successful clubs C.A.R.S and Swifts Raceway, the series would cater for the GT class cars and run over four meetings with C.A.R.S hosted the opening round that fielded a competitive collection of racers. In GT12 it was Rory Hobkirk who was the man to beat in qualifying. He was being closely followed by Sion Wedley and Summer Shoot Out winner Gavin Stephenson. Stephen Lander was also in the chase with the new Mardave Assassin, the car could not take TQ on its debut but it did record the fastest lap. The final was a great battle between Hobkirk, Wedley and Stephenson. With Hobkirk and Wedley having problems with back markers it was left for Stephenson to show why he is a Shoot Out champ.

Hoppe takes 1/8th On-road North German regional title

The final round of the North German 1/8th Nitro On-road regionals was held at the MSC Polizei Braunschweig track this past weekend. The event saw a dominant Lars Hoppe (ARC/Reds Racing) taking a hat-trick with the TQ, win and the fastest lap. Starting from pole position, Lars set the pace and he was followed by Merlin Depta (Serpent/Picco) and Lennart Skornia (Serpent/ Orcan) but the final began with a lot of action in the first corner, after Timo Schröder (Shepherd/Picco), Andreas Giesa (Shepherd/Picco) and Michael Pätz crashed with a bad outcome for Timo and Andreas and at the end Lars was able to take the win one lap ahead of Merlin and Lennart. The victory at the final round also got Lars the North German Championship title in front of Merlin Depta and Timo Schröder.

Dutch Electric On-road Nationals Rd6 – Report

The final round of the Dutch Electric On-road Nationals was held at the fast and flowing track of the MAC De Baanbrekers in Rucphen this past weekend. The nice weather made for perfect racing conditions and the event started out with free practice on Saturday with the usual classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock and Formula would be accompanied by the 10.5T Pro10 class who made a guest appearance. In the Modified class Mitchell van Es (Yokomo) was the man to beat all weekend. After the three qualifiers he took the TQ followed by Govert Verbeke (Xray) and Rob Jansen (Team Magic). In the finals Mitchell would again show his skills as he made a clean sweep to take the win from Rob Jansen and Athan de Witte (VBC).

Speedmaster Japan have introduced their new silver-colour shock springs for 1/10th touring cars. Developed by the people behind the highly popular HPI silver springs the Speedmaster Japan items will offer improved materials, dimensions and surface treatment to allow for highest precision and on-track performance. Coming in standard as well as short 20mm specification the colour coded springs are available as pairs or 3-piece combo sets. The range will include TL2.8/6.75, TL3.0/6.5 and TL3.2/6.25 “long” springs made from 1.5mm wire while the “short” springs are available as TS2.8/5.75, TS3.0/5.5 and TS3.2/5.25 variants made from 1.4mm wire.

Picco wins as Vanni takes Italian Championship

Picco wins as Vanni takes Italian Championship

Alberto Picco completed another perfect weekend of racing, taking the win at the final round of the Italian 1/8th Nitro On-road Championship over Mirko Salemi and local racer Morgan Renzi at the end of an outstanding 60-minute long final in which he again proved himself and his package very competitive. Behind the top three it was veteran racer Marco Vanni to finish fourth after a highly conservative race, with the Shepherd driver collecting enough points to conquer the overall title ahead of Picco.

Timo Engelstätter wins at BIG Return Race

The BIG Return Race was held at the newly built BIG Hamburg track in Hamburg-Stapelfeld this past weekend. The race was highly anticipated as the traditional club was left without a track for several years due to loosing their old location for various reasons. The event was held in 1/8th Nitro and Electric classes and in the Nitro Buggy category it was Kyosho’s Timo Engelstätter (Kyosho/AKA) who came out successful from Lujas Strothmann (Mugen/AKA) and young Burak Kilic (TLR/Beta). Jan Sievert (Mugen/AKA) and Marcel Paul (SOAR/AKA) rounded out the top 5 result.

Tasos Paparegas takes Greek 1/8th Buggy title

The final round of the Greek 1/8th Buggy National Championship was held at the Hobbytech track in Serres. Kyosho driver Papanikolaou took the pole position for the main final in front of Tasos Paparegas (Xray) and Makropoulos (Radiosistemi) and in the main final Tasos brought home the win with a 5 lap margin on Makropoulos. Tasos’ brother John (Xray) would round out the top 3 result. With the win Tasos secured himself another Greek National title in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class.
