Nacho Lopez takes final round of Spanish 1/8th nats

…the race it started to rain and Nacho came in for a tyre swap to damp tyres and while being the fastest driver in the wet he extended his lead but soon after the rain stopped and the track started to dry. Around the 35 minute mark the damp tyres on Nacho’s car were pretty much destroyed so he had to change tyres again. On now dry tyres the Serpent driver again was the fastest man on the track and he eventually took the win with his XRD-powered Serpent from Victor Gonzalez (Motonica/O.S.) and Vicente Eres (Shepherd/Picco). Nejc Mihelic wins Austrian 1/8th on-road nationals

Last weekend saw the final round of the Austria 1/8th scale nitro on-road championships run at the Mac Amstetten track. Motonica team driver Nejc Mihelic had a splendid weekend by taking the TQ for the 45 minute final which he then dominated till the end to take the win. Ermen & Rausch take West German championships

…result more drivers than expected wanted to enter the two races. But race director Arno Puepke decided to refuse these drivers an entry and to allow only those to start who had confirmed their participation in the drivers meeting – a decision that needs to be clarified within the rule book for the future. In 1/8th class 1 Michael Salven pushed his Picco-powered Serpent 977 to TQ with 19 laps in 5.06,281 minutes. The 2nd spot was captured by Motonica factory driver Robin D’hondt from Belgium with 19 laps in 5.07,177 with last year’s winner John Ermen in 3rd (5.07,464)….
