South African Nitro On-road Nationals Rd4 – Report

The TRAP RC Racing Venue just North of Tshwane, Pretoria played host to the 4th round of the South African Gas On-road Nationals. The penultimate round of the 2015 National series attracted around 50 entries to race in the premier 1/8th scale, as well as the 200mm Nitro Touring, 235mm and a new 1/8 Scale GT entry level class. The event was greeted with great weather, which kept track conditions consistent and drivers were happy to report that grip remained predictable for the 3-day event.

John Allas wins at Mauritius GP On-road Champs Rd4

The fourth round of the Mauritius GP On-road Championships was organised by the Mighty Model Club and held at the Winner’s Speedway track. In the 1/10th GP class, John Allas took the TQ from Giovanni Arekion and Olivier Lebon. The final then saw John taking the win while Giovanni and Olivier swapped places so Olivier would grab the runner-up spot from third placed Giovanni.

Yeah Racing Sprint 2 pre-assembled turnbuckle set

Coming from Yeah Racing and made for the HPI Sprint 2 is a pre-assembled aluminium turnbuckle set. Utilising orange anodised 7075 aluminium links the set scrubs some weight while adding visual impact and improved adjustability at the same time. The pre-assembled tie-rods also include ball joints and they are a direct replacement for the stock parts.

Jason Nugroho wins at Bali Fun Race

The Bali Fun Race was held at the dusty and medium-grip Willson Track in Denpasar, Bali. After the triple qualifiers Jason Nugroho (Xray) took the TQ in the Nitro Buggy class and he would start from the 1 spot into the main final. A bit of traffic let Jason fall back in the early stages of the A-main but he was able to get back into the lead around the 5 minute mark and he would be able to retain the top spot till the end to take the win in the 60-minute final from Dimas Soenarto (Kyosho) and track owner Willy Santana (Xray), who came from 9th on the grid.

Jake Mayo doubles at JBRL Electric Series Rd7

Round 7 of this year’s JBRL Electric Series was held at Rainman’s Hobby & Raceway in Bakersfield, California. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class Jake Mayo came out successful in front of runner-up Kevin Motter. Shawn Blackwell Sr. would round out the podium in third place.

GForce G8 Duo 1400W dual output charger

GForce have introduced their new G8 Duo multi-chemistry dual output charger. The device can make use of 11VDC to 30VDC input and its dual 700 watts charge circuitry allows for up to 30A charge current per channel while charging 2S to 8S LiXX, 1 to 20 cell NiXX or 2V to 24V lead-acid batteries. The compact case measures 200x140x55mm and sports dual back-lit LCD displays and 4-button menu operation. A special Li-HV mode allows to charge the latest generation of high-voltage LiPo cells to up to 4.35V and the charger comes with a range of accessories such as two balancer boards, XT60 charge harnesses and more.

Brilliant RC steel-sealed ball bearing sets

New from Brilliant RC come high-quality metal-shielded ball bearing sets for a range of vehicles. The bearings come pre-lubed with a special grease that will not thicken up during use and the highly precise steel seals ensure dust and dirt stay away from the internals while making for significantly less drag compared to standard or rubber-sealed bearings. The ball races are available for a range of cars including the 1/8th on-road kits of ARC, BMT, Capricorn, Mugen, Serpent, Shepherd and Xray as well as for the 1/10th touring car kits of Serpent, Xray and Yokomo, with more sets to come. Nico Risser doubles at French National Cup

The French National Cup was held this past weekend at the very technical Gargenville track near Paris. The weather, with some heavy rain on Sunday, was not great at all but thanks to the tremendous work done by the club Sunday’s finals would go ahead despite a delay to dry and clean the track. In the finals of the 2WD Buggy class Nico Risser (Team C) took the win from Olivier de Montfumat (Schumacher) in second and Ludovic Valtier (Team Associated) in third. Nico then also swept the 4WD finals by coming out successful again from Olivier de Montfumat (Schumacher) in second. Julian Ferrandis (Xray) would round out the top 3 result.
