The 2014/15 Winter Electric Series was held as a 3-race series with all three rounds counting towards the overall championship. In the 1/12th Open class former 1/8th scale European Champion Jernej Vuga took the title by TQ-ing and winning all three rounds of the series. Denis Fink came in 2nd while Luka Skolaris rounded out the podium in 3rd.

LRP has announced the signing of Davide Ongaro to their nitro team. The young Italian was already using LRP equipment for his 1/10th off-road campaigns and he now made the move to race with LRP’s nitro engines, exhausts and equipment also. After making the 1/4 finale at the 2014 IFMAR Buggy Worlds and having the speed to proceed to the 1/2 final, which bad luck denied him, Davide is looking forward to the 2015 season with his new equipment.

The fourth round of the Danish DRCMU series was hosted by the Ti-Mo club in Tinglev with 73 drivers from Denmark and Germany in attendance. The 17.5T blinky class attracted a good turnout of drivers and young Jeppe Svendsen took the TQ after the qualifiers but come the finals he started to become nervous and so the first two mains did not went perfect for the Xray driver. In the final and decisive A-main though he got everything together to take the win and with it the overall victory in front of his team mates Bjarke Nyskov and Jens Otto Frederiksen.

Italian company WRC introduce new quick release wheel mounts for 1/8th on-road cars. The design minimises possible imbalance as associated with conventional lever-type mounts as the WRC system uses a simple aluminium button that sits in-line with the wheel axle when to remove or mount the wheel and once the rim is in place the red alloy disc is pushed to the outside to lock the wheel in place. The system works with all rims brands and is used on WRC’s recently introduced GTX 1/8th on-road car.

New from Yokomo come 0 degree toe aluminium rear hub carriers for the B-Max2, B-Max4 and YZ-2 buggy. The hubs are machined from high quality aluminium, they come laser-etched for easy identification and they offer four mounting positions for the camber link ball studs. Reedy, Tamiya America, and Scotty Ernst Productions announce that the Reedy International Touring Car Race of Champions will return to the Tamiya America circuit May 21-24, 2015. Entries open February 25th at Noon PST exclusively here. Due to time constraints and to maintain the world-class nature of the event, total entries are capped for the Open classes. Due to high demand, a 17.5 class will also be offered this year in addition to the traditional 13.5 and Modified classes. Open class entries are limited to 160 (110 combined 13.5 and 17.5, 50 Modified) with each driver limited to one entry. To allow everyone an opportunity to be a part of the 2015 edition race, a lottery drawing for the Open classes will be conducted on March 23rd, with those chosen securing a place in the event. The 2015 Race On The Rug event hosted by the RC Complex in Bolivar, Missouri. The facility recently decided to remove their dirt offroad track, and replace it with a European style carpet offroad track. Winter weather and icy roads unfortunately struck the area leading up to the race. The Mod 4WD Buggy class was a bit light in attendance, but still offered some close racing and blistering fast speeds for the spectators to enjoy. Mike Garrison managed to capture TQ in qualifying with the only 18-lap run in the class. As the A-Final got underway, it was a back and forth battle in the early laps between Garrison and Dave Ferrell. After a slight mistake by Ferrell following close in 2nd, Garrison was able to stretch out his lead and cruise to victory.
