Jesper Rasmussen wins at DRCMU championship Rd1

Jesper Rasmussen wins at DRCMU championship Rd1

Young Scandinavian Team Associated team driver Jesper Rasmussen took TQ and the victory at the first round of the Danish DRCMU championship held in Viborg, Denmark. The conditions were difficult as the track was bumpy and very damp in the morning. However, during qualifying the track dried up and got faster allowing Jesper to win all three qualifying rounds, handing him the TQ for the A-mains. In the break between qualifying and mains it started to rain and the track turned from high grip to low grip and it was again Jesper who excelled in the conditions by winning the first two rounds of the A-main to take the overall win in the 2WD class.

They are a direct upgrade for the Associated parts and are made of black anodised 7075 aluminium and have a wide base to prevent bent shock mount screws. 2014 JConcepts 1/8th Spring Nationals – Report

2014 JConcepts 1/8th Spring Nationals – Report

The racers from the Mid-West surrounding area made their way to Omaha Nebraska’s famous Hobbyplex for the 2014 JConcepts 1/8th Spring Nationals. This annual event in its 5th year has turned into the must attend racing event for the Nitro crowd. With a record number of entries at 186, this year by far surpassed the previous year record, and the track along with the program did not disappoint. As many may know, an equipment failure left Alex Sturgeon with several stitches and a broken arm during the track build. The core group of locals including the owner of the shop and his son jumped in with the guidance of a medicated Alex to make sure the event went off without a hitch. When racers arrived on Friday for practice, a fresh layout with painted infield sections awaited the drivers, and with that, the track opened and most were unaware that there was anything different.

The CT State Championships was held at Wolcott Hobby and Raceway in Wolcott, Connecticut with around 100 entries. Up for grabs was the State championships for 1/8th nitro buggy, truggy, electric 8th scale buggy and 4WD SC. Leading up to the event the area experienced a few days of rain which left the track a little soft, but the Wolcott Hobby crew did a great job of prepping the track and making sure there was no standing water. Come heat 2 of nitro buggy qualifying and light rain started to fall again that quickly disappeared leaving perfect grip conditions for heat 3. Kyosho’s Kyle Rhods jumped out front early, limited his mistakes and was able to set TQ for the round. Round 2 and with an unchanged buggy but new tyres Kyle made a few mistakes early in his heat on which left him in third for a few laps but he again jumped back out front and was setting a new TQ by 6 seconds ahead of his round 1 time, but he had to pull off at the 3 minute mark, but the TQ from round 1 was fast enough to give him the overall TQ.
