Christer Andersson wins LTCC 2014

The annual LTCC electric on-road race was held this past weekend in Finland. The invitational class is run in a Reedy format with the country’s best 32 drivers being invited. As for the rules the race sees the use of 10.5T motors and blinky speedos for close racing with plenty of fun for the spectators of the nearby hobby fair. Like last year former factory driver Christer Andersson attended the race and he was looking for redemption after scoring a 2nd place in 2013 with zero practice before the event. This year he had only one thing in mind and that was to grab the number 1 spot.

Swauger & Breton win at ROAR On-road Fuel Nationals

The 2014 ROAR Fuel On-Road Nationals were held at the Ft. Myers RC Car Club in Ft. Myers, Florida. In the 1/8th Open On-road class it was Paolo Morganti (Serpent) who took the TQ for finals and he even led the main for most of the time but a problem cost him dearly, handing the win to Mike Swauger (Xray). Joaquin Desoto Jr rounded out the podium some 10 laps down on Paolo. Those three drivers were the only to complete the full 45 minute final with 4th placed Tony Rice only running for 42 minutes. Ralph Burch had to end his race after two third of the distance but he still made the top 5. In the 1/8th Masters class Chuck Moon took the TQ but it was Peter Breton who grabbed the overall win from Don Jones in 2nd and Rick Davis in 3rd to make it an all-Serpent podium. 2014 Asia Offroad Championships – Report

The 2014 Asia Offroad Championships were held last weekend at the World-famous Yatabe Arena, the venue of next year’s IFMAR EP Offroad World Championships. The race was held on the facility’s astro turf track that received a new layout prior to the event to allow for equal conditions and no advantage for the drivers that attended the JMRCA Nationals back in July at the same venue. As in previous years the race was announced by Charlie Suangka and the race format was five rounds of qualifying followed by triple A-mains, double B and lower mains. Overall more than 50 drivers, including a good amount of entries from oversea, attended the race in the three classes of Electric Buggy 2WD, 4WD and Junior and it was newly crowned Touring Car World Champion Naoto Matsukura who took the win in the 2WD class from UK’s Lee Martin and Kohta Akimoto.

BRCA 1/12th nationals Rd1 – Report

Round 1 of the 2014/15 BRCA 1/12th Scale Nationals took place at Tonbridge in West Kent last weekend. A large and highly technical track layout greeted the drivers and for the brits who attended last month’s IFMAR World Championships in Florida the sight of a technical layout and good grip levels was very welcome. The weekend is split into two separate race meetings, with classes for 13.5 and 10.5 stock on Saturday and 10.5 and Open Modified on Sunday. In the 10.5 Stock class, Olly Jefferies was in commanding form driving his Reedy and LRP-powered Xray chassis. He won all four rounds of qualifying and was top qualifier ahead of reigning British Champion in this class David Spashett, driving the Zen-Racing car he has designed and developed himself. Mark Stiles was 3rd for Yokomo/Reedy.

Team Associated B5M 3-gear transmission

Team Associated B5M 3-gear transmission

Team Associated’s new B5M 3-gear transmission provides the spec class racer with a lightweight/low rotating mass option to improve drivetrain efficiency. It also features a new, smaller, lightweight top shaft which uses smaller diameter 5x10x4mm bearings for additional weight savings. The 3-gear transmission is also a great tuning aid for modified class racing on high-grip tracks because the gyroscopic effect of the motor is reversed, making the car stay flatter in the corners. The 3-gear transmission requires the dedicated top shaft, gear box, gear cover, and either the black or blue 3-gear motor plate, all sold separately.
