Hobbywing Xerun 120A WP V3.1 ESC

German Hobbywing distributor Hype announce the soon release of the Xerun 120A WP V3.1 speed controller. Building on the already known V3.1 the WP version is highly water protected making it ideal for on-road and off-road applications alike. The controller is made for 2S to 3S use, sports a 120A rating and it the ESC’s firmware is upgradable using the optional programming box. The other features such as the high airflow cooling head, all-aluminium case and build-in switch remain unchanged from the non-WP model.

Team Associated and Reedy Products welcome another talented youngster to the Scandinavian team. Jesper Rasmussen from Denmark is the latest junior to choose Team Associated and Reedy products. Scandinavia is becoming a hot bed for up and coming stars and Jasper’s fearless style and talent has already surprised many and it recently secured him a fantastic 3rd place podium finish at the hugely popular DHI CUP on his debut with his new cars.

Serpent SL8 light 2-speed shaft

Serpent introduce this lightweight SL8 2-speed layshaft for the Viper 977 car. The hollow axle is made from hardened, balanced and ground spring steel for a maximum in precision and durability. Two flat spots ensure a secure fit of the pulley adaptor grub screws. Being around 30 percent lighter than the stock part using the shaft makes for a lighter and more agile behaving drivetrain.

Lin Le Hua joins Team Losi Racing

Team Losi Racing announce the signing of China-based driver Lin Le Lua for their 2014 race team. The A-finalist of the 2013 FEMCA Nitro Race and 2013 FEMCA EP podium finisher will be piloting TLR’s 8ight and 22 series of vehicles throughout 2014. Beside competing at all major events in China, Lin will also attend at a variety of races throughout Asia to represent the TLR brand. Le Hua had the following to say about the deal:

First of all, I will like to say a big thank you to Horizon Hobby-China for setting up the opportunity to represent TLR for the year 2014. TLR is a brand of Horizon with a long racing history and I am always amazed by their innovation on various off-road platforms. Hype X-200 Touch DC charger

Hype introduce the X-200 Touch 200W DC multi-chemistry charger. The main feature of the device is the large 96x54mm touch sensitive colour display to control and monitor all relevant charging and discharging parameters. Offering a multi-language menu the charger is designed for the use with up to 6 cell LiXX and up to 16 cell NiXX packs as well as Lead-Acid batteries. A maximum charge current of 10A makes for low charging times while the X-200 also offers a 3A discharge function. An integrated LiPo balancer and special modes for all battery types round out the package.

Brand New Year

It looks like we may be coming towards the end of one of the most active ‘silly seasons’ in RC that I’ve ever seen. Whilst it’s true that our sport does appear to move forward every year in the media elements, with both drivers and manufacturers realising the importance of media exposure and getting their news out to their fans and competitors, I did wonder what exactly it was that may have meant we saw so many news items, press releases and announcements concerning driver contracts for 2014.

Kyosho RB6 option parts

Kyosho RB6 option parts

Kyosho soon have new option parts for the World Championship winning RB6 buggy available. First up is a lightweight chassis plate, made from 7075-T6 aluminium. Coming hard anodised the chassis also sports additional milled out sections for a lower weight compared to the standard kit chassis. Also new is the Blade lightweight body made from 0.6mm polycarbonate. Being of a lighter weight, using the body makes for a lower centre of gravity and a reduced all-up weight. Last but not least is a brass weight set for the rear bulkhead of mid motor converted cars. Included are a total of three weights as well as mounting hardware for a drop-in fit.

Xray Challenge Scandiano – Report

The first Xray Challenge of 2014 was held at the RC Landia facilities of Team La Gang, in Scandiano, Italy. The race was sold out quickly after the entry was opened and a total of 120 drivers attended in three classes. Open practice started on Friday, whereas the race commenced on Saturday, with 5 qualifying rounds for all drivers, and triple finals. In Touring Car Modified Xray’s Alexander Hagberg won all rounds in front of Alessio and Martin, and he also set TQ in the 1/12 category in front of fellow Xray drivers Massimo Fantini and Marek Cerny. In the Touring Car Stock class, Xray took a 1-2 as well with Marek Cerny on the top spot followed by Mattia Collina.
