Redcat Kaiju 1/8th scale monster truck

Redcat have introduced their new Kaiju 1/8th scale electric ready-to-run monster truck. It builds on a moulded tub chassis with a 3-differential drivetrain that improves power control without sacrificing the truck’s stunt and bashing abilities. Steel CVA drive shafts with captured joints, steel internal differential gears, 17mm aluminium hex hubs, rubber-sealed ball bearings, sealed drivetrain and extra durable plastics are some of the performance and durability components standard on the Kaiju. Damping is provided by four aluminium threaded body oil-filled coil-over shocks. The suspension is completely adjustable and tunable for most driving styles and conditions. The truck features a 6S LiPo-ready ESC and will accept single 4S to 6S or double 2S to 3S LiPo batteries. The truck uses the popular T-style battery connectors and the adjustable battery tray, with inner dimensions of 145.5mm long, 47.8mm wide and 56mm high, is what makes multiple battery configurations possible. Hobbywing’s powerful 150A brushless ESC and 4-pole 4268 2100Kv brushless motor provide power to the with the power system being both waterproof and dustproof, and it features low voltage cutoff, as well as overheating protection. The massive power handling capabilities of the Kaiju requires some additional stability control in the form of an adjustable wheelie bar. This allows the driver to decide how wild the truck’s wheelies are. The truck sits on four  aggressive monster truck tires that were designed for tearing through soil, as well as for high speed performance. The tire’s low profile sidewall design offers stability, traction, control and excellent power delivery. The retro styling of the polycarbonate body, coupled with its aggressive stance, gives the truck an amazing look and feel. The RTR package also includes a realistic looking and durable front bumper, with D-ring shackles and clear LED lights. Two red LEDs illuminate the rear of the vehicle.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster X 8S speed controller

Castle Creations have introduced their new Mamba Monster X 8S LiPo-compatible brushless speed controller for 1/6th scale applications. The ESC utilises Castle’s Cryo-Drive technology that, by reducing the rate at which the ESC heats up and removing heat more efficiently, the setup will be able to handle higher gear ratios, in heavier vehicles, with longer runs. These software advancements work in parallel with a unique open housing design to allow increased directional airflow to cool critical components. With the integration of a 40mm cooling fan and a forged elliptical fin heatsink, the design maximises airflow throughout the system, taking thermal performance to a whole new level. Constructed around a robust aluminium casing, epoxy potting guarantees protection around the circuitry and ensures all-weather use. Owners can also easily optimise the ESC for any driving condition, from rugged terrain to smooth pavement to the perils of rock and gravel. They can create, save and download setup profiles through the Castle Link Programming Suite on a Windows PC, or wirelessly with the convenience of the new B-Link Bluetooth Adapter and Castle Link app for Android or iOS.
