Motonica P8.0 Classic 2wd

Just before the Nürnberg toy fair we showed you the new product range from Motonica which amongst other things included the all new P8.0 Classic, a 2wd flat pan chassis. This was a strange choice of car to start producing, considering the numbers involved in this class which really only exists in the south of Europe, but despite this fact Motonica have created a rather attractive and i’m sure competitive car. Sporting a full carbon fibre chassis plate the car is rear wheel drive and receives the power to its back wheels through a belt from the single speed gearbox…

Masao Tanaka signs to Motonica for 2007

Top Japanese racer and multiple World championship podium finisher, Masao Tanaka has been confirmed to race for Motonica for the 2007 season. Tanaka had previously tested the Motonica prior to last years 1/8th Nationals, but decided for the Mugen as he didn’t have time to learn the car, but obviously he liked the car enough to decide to race with it for the 2007 season. Tanaka has been out of a sponsored drive since Ninja motors were pushed upon Mugen team drivers last year which forced Tanaka to make a decision between staying with Mugen or with Kawahara where he…

Motonica P8.0 Base

Yesterday we showed you a preview of the new cars from Motonica which included the R version of the original P8.0 as well as a Classic class pan car. Well now we get a closer look at the P8.0 base, which i couldnt figure out yesterday, and apparently this car is a cheaper starter car based on the original P8.0 4wd car. Although this car is also 4wd from the pictures it appears to have no suspension and no radio plate and must qualify as one of the strangest concepts for a car that i’ve seen in a while. Hit…

Motonica P8.0R and P8.0 Classic kits

Motonica, who made their debut at last years Nürnberg toy fair, have announced that they will release an updated version of their P8.0, called the P8.0R. The R features a few small updates like a news chassis with shorter wheelbase from 295mm to 292.5mm, more shock mounting options and a different rear body mount that allows you adjust the angle of the a-arms, similar to the Serpent 960. What is rather strange is that Motonica will release a flat pan (no suspension) Classic kit, called P8.0 Classic obviously enough. This class is really only raced in France and a handful…

Is the 1/8th Gas Buggy market flooded?

…the same piece of the pie, in a market that is becoming more crowded than a rush hour train in Bangladesh. Who are these manufacturers and who really is left that can join in? Read More… Like i’ve said before, it’s easier to see whos left. So who is left to join? Well from the main manufacturers you have Academy, Corally, Motonica, Schumacher, Serpent, Shepherd, Tamiya and Yokomo who have yet to join this class but these companies have very niche markets and are small to medium sized. With the exception of Schumacher who distribute the Nanda buggy in Europe…

BP Racing 735 Engine

Peter V over at Radio Control Zone posted a few exploded shots of the Fastom 735 Engine that showed up on the internet today but had little or no other information about it. So i checked a few things and found that this engine is made by BP Racing in Italy and was in fact introduced earlier this year at the toy fair in Nürnberg along with the Motonica and early reports are that it isn’t as hot as it looks. From the BP Racing site New generation engine entirely drawn in series by the full with special alloys and…
