While here in Bangkok, Pure Hobby Distribution have shown us their all new brushless conversion set for the Mugen MTX-5. Designed by World Champion Robert Pietsch it allows the owner of a MTX-5 chassis an inexpensive way to test indoors during the winter season. Utilizing many parts from the gas car, the kit will include less than 20 parts to complete the conversion meaning you can use the same spares as those on your gas car as well as your old foam tires that are too small for gas racing, but which are perfect for indoor racing on carpet. The car will use a standard 540 type motor and is recommended to be used with a 3S 11.1V battery for maximum power. All together the car weighs in at 1500 grams. Available in the net two weeks through Pure’s distribution network, if popular they will broaden its release.
JG-Racing, the brand of 2012 electric touring car World Champion Jilles Groskamp, announce their first product in the form of a special bag for 1/10th touring car tires. Designed to make storage and transportation easy the black fabric bag features an upper and lower transparent window and a space to write down tire details like hardness, insert or other important notes. Having been the provisional TQ holder since topping the second round of qualifying three days ago, Team HB’s Teemu Leino made the best use of near perfect ‘rocket round’ conditions in the final qualifier in Thailand to produce a blistering 40-lap run securing himself & HB’s brand new R10 chassis the honour of being Top Qualifier for the fifth bi-annual Nitro Touring World Championships. Set to line up on pole position for Saturday’s World title deciding final at the beautiful RC Addict track, the Finnish star will be joined in the 60-minute encounter by Jilles Groskamp who was the only other driver to deliver a 40 lap run, his own HB team-mate Atsushi Hara and Thai ace Meen Vejrak with the other 6 drivers going to have to earn their way onto the grid via the Semi Finals.

Mark Day’s Timezone II Raceway once again hosted North America’s best on-road drivers for some high-grip carpet action at the Timezone Grand Prix. The three-day event featured practice on Friday, three rounds of qualifying Saturday, and triple A Mains on Sunday. In Modified 1/12 scale, Keven Hébert has been on a tear as of late and this race was no exception. Keven piloted his Team Associated 12R5.2 to a convincing TQ against a very solid field of 1/12 racers. In equally convincing fashion, Hebert drove away from the field in the first two legs of the A Main to take the title and the beautiful Timezone timepiece that comes with it. Teammate Mike Haynes found some good pace in the mains and joined Keven on the podium with a second-place finish.
