EFRA logo

EFRA have today confirmed that the European 1/10th scale ‘B’ Championships, due to be held from the 2nd to the 7th of May in Heemstede, The Netherlands has been relocated to another track in the south west of the country due to newly enforced noise restrictions at the track. These restrictions have seen 1/8th scale on road unable to run at the track at all and it now seems to have affected the 1/10th scale class as well. The new host for the event will be the MAC De Baanbrekers track in Rucphen, who have hosted some major championships in the past. To view the full statement click here (PDF).

Jerome Aigoin takes wet French season opener

Jerome Aigoin takes wet French season opener

The opening round of the French 1/8th scale offroad Nationals took place this weekend at the Pierrefeu track in the south east of France, close to Nice. Qualifying saw Losi/nVision driver Yannick Aigoin take the top spot ahead of his brother Kyosho/Novarossi driver Jerome Aigoin with Spanish Mugen/Novarossi driver Robert Batlle taking third on his guest appearance in the National Championship. Hobbytech’s Nicolas Rodriguez and Agama driver Jerome Sartel completed the top 5. Unfortunately Sunday’s finals were heavily affected by rain, with the organisers deciding to stop the race after the semi finals due to too much water on the track but not before we lost Yannick Aigoin, Jerome Sartel and Renaud Savoya. This decision gifted the win to Jerome Aigoin, with Robert Batlle taking 2nd and Nicolas Vouilloz taking 3rd.

Volker & Dankel take 2011 LRP TCM titles

Pole sitters Ronald Volker and Eric Dankel have both converted their top qualifying spots at this year’s LRP TCM in Eppelheim into wins, with 3 perfect A-mains each. In the modified class Ronald took all 3 A-mains by relatively small margins to secure the overall title, with 3 time World Champion Marc Rheinard claiming the runner up spot with 2nd place in both the 2nd and 3rd legs after a disastrous first leg that saw him retire just after the halfway stage. Completing the podium was ETS Rd4 winner Juho Levanen taking 2nd in leg 1 and backing it up with a 3rd in leg 2. In the pro stock class no one could come close to Eric Dankel who won leg 1 by a 9 second margin, leg 2 by over 4 seconds and leg 3 again by 9 seconds to cap off a perfect weekend for the German driver. Taking the runner up spot was Daniel Wohlgemuth, who recovered from a first lap retirement in the first final to come back and take 2nd in the remaining finals. Double ETS winner Martin Hofer completed the podium in 3rd with a 2nd and 3rd place finish in leg 1 and 2.

New from Italian company Laurus is the EC1 Colibri, a unit for bench testing engines. Suitable for a wide range of engine size past 3.5cc, it puts the engine under load during running to simulate on track usage and even sports a built in brake. Featuring a built in starter that gets the engine powered through a built in lever, the throttle of the engine is controlled by a LAN powered device for safe operation. For cooling, once started the motor is encased in a fan cooled casing for a controlled testing environment. Connected to a computer by USB, the software that comes with the device allows you to measure a wide range of parameters from the engine including rpm, acceleration, running and peak temperatures and it allows you to compare the results with other engines. Not a device for everyone, but if you are serious about tuning engines, this is worth looking at.
