Sweep Challenge Carpet race report

Sweep Challenge Carpet race report

The 1st annual Sweep Challenge Carpet race was held at TQ Raceway in Chino California last weekend. There were 60 drivers that generated 12 qualifying heats for the event and track owner Sean Park did a great job of creating a layout on the 90ft X 45ft sub-floored track that fostered close racing in all the classes. The Sweep QTS-32 “Real Blue” tire was used as the control tire for the event and provided superior traction and consistent lap times for all the drivers throughout the day. The most exciting race of the day was the 17.5 Expert Touring Car class which saw local hot shoe Alex Navarrete have to start last after failing to complete a qualifying round and subsequently come back to finish in 1st place ahead of the class TQ, Francis Mejia. In the end TQ ran a flawless event and the drivers enjoyed a huge raffle with prizes provided by Sweep Racing Tires and all the other event sponsors.

Exotek Sprint SPX Pro chassis set

Exotek Sprint SPX Pro chassis set

Exotek Racing have produced this carbon fibre Pro chassis conversion for the Sprint2 Flux, Sprint2 Drift and Sprint. Made in the USA using high quality 2.25mm thick carbon fibre, its improved design prevents the front belt from rubbing the top plate. The new design also has open diff access at the bottom of the chassis to eject road debris helping prevent damage to the front and rear belts. Designed to still flex enough to help generate stability but stiff enough for responsiveness its narrow design offers improved cornering, less chassis scrub on the sides which helps improve traction while cornering.

Xray Column – Summer is Gone…Euros are Done

Xray Column - Summer is Gone…Euros are Done

The 56th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks recounts the team’s experiences at the final 3 Euros of the year, 1/8th offroad, 1/10th EP TC and the 1/10th 200mm.

We left that same evening home as we had only 3 days before leaving for the next Euros. After a 900km drive we arrived very late at night, had a few hours sleep and ran into the office to maximize the time in the office before leaving for the 1/10 Electric touring Euros in Austria. Since this was the last Euros, and since the 1/10 Nitro touring was held on the Monday AFTER the electric touring Euros, we had no other choice but to pack both nitro and electric touring stuff, and enough clothes and other things for both Euros in a row.

Takahiro Namura wins JMRCA Sports TC title

Takahiro Namura wins JMRCA Sports TC title

The JMRCA touring car Sport class Nationals took place this past weekend at the Kawaba RC Plaza in Gunma. Weather for qualifying was cold but dry and following 6 rounds it was Tamiya driver Takahiro Namura that took the pole position ahead of Riyota Kikuchi driving an Xray, with Kazuma Morita also with a Tamiya in 3rd. As with almost all races this year rain was again to play a role with finals day hit by rain. Despite waiting for the weather to clear, which look likely, further rain fell and so the race was cancelled with the results based on the standings after qualifying. This decision gave Takahiro Namura the Sport class title for 2011.
