Mark Stiles & Andy Griffiths win BRCA 12th Nats Rd6

Mark Stiles & Andy Griffiths win BRCA 12th Nats Rd6

The 6th and final round of the 2010/11 BRCA 1/12th Scale Nationals took place at Chesterfield last weekend. Most of the regular front runners were in attendance, with the only exception being Elliott Harper who was away in Poland contesting the Euro Touring Series. On Saturday in the stock class Andy Griffiths took pole position driving his Nosram powered V-Dezign. Andy just needed to finish inside the top 3 to secure the British championship, and with his only competitor Chris Kerswell qualifying down in 4th, Andy’s job in the final looked to be relatively straightforward. Matt Varah and Mark Stiles qualified 2nd and 3rd respectively to make it a V-Dezign 1-2-3.

Maifield takes 3 at 2011 Cactus Classic

Sun-DriverStand

With qualifying for this year’s Cactus Classic completed on Saturday, Sunday saw the all important mains day with race favorite Ryan Maifield looking to convert his 4 TQ spots into victory. At the end of Saturday’s qualifying, all of the racers in the Pro-4 class were called to the announcer’s booth for a meeting. I was slightly confused why, then I asked Ryan Maifield what was going on? He said a lot of the guys were worried about “nuking” their motors in the scheduled 10-minute main. Their compromise was to run double 5-minute mains. In A1, top qualifier, Ryan Maifield held his lead for the first three laps then let Mike Truhe and Hupo Honigl slip by.  The Durango duo of Jorn and Hupo did some swapping of positions with Maifield while Truhe ran away with the win.

Xray Column – Shake It, Baby, Shake It…

Xray Column - Shake It, Baby, Shake It…

The 51st installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks about this year’s toy fair as well as the roll out of the new RX8 1/8th scale chassis including its first win at this year’s Florida Winternats.

Almost daily we receive reports and feedback from the team around the world and with the exception of a few minor issues I was aware about, all the feedback was similar: the car is easy to drive, had plenty of traction and steering (even if the track conditions were not optimum) and the effects of small set-up changes were immediately noticeable.

Malaysian Shepherd Racing Series report

Malaysian Shepherd Racing Series report

The Grand Finale of the Malaysian Shepherd Racing Series was held at the Niko Racing Circuit near Johor close to Singapore recently. Patrick Schäfer and his team mechanic Armin Weihert traveled from Germany to Malaysia to attend this event organized by Malaysian distributor Niko Cheng. Additionally Jilles Groskamp came over from Bangkok to race in the 1/10th scale class while Schäfer participated in the 1/8th scale class. During qualifying Schäfer and Groskamp had no problems to secure the pole-positions in their classes. Due to an engine problem Groskamp had to take a timeout before the main final and started from last position. After a few laps he was right behind the early leader Azri Amri. Unfortunately another technical problem forced him to have a long pitstop and he lost a lot of time. Azri Amri cruised to the victory followed by Shafiq and Mizan on third position. Just before the start of the 1/8th scale final rain hit the track and the organizer decided that the race will be canceled. Luckily the rain was much less than the days before and the track dried up quickly. From the start Schäfer controlled the field and after a few minutes he already had a big gap on the second placed driver. After 45 min he crossed the finishing line unchallenged in front of Lai Kok Heng 14 laps down and David Voo on third position.
