Serpent 811 Cobra chassis brace

More new optional parts from Serpent for their S811 Cobra 1/8th scale buggy with the release of aluminium chassis braces for the front and rear of the car. Precision CNC machined from 7075 T6 aluminium and then anodised, they are super lightweight and help stiffen the chassis more than the standard composite versions.

Sweep Racing have announced the latest item release in their growing product line, GT tires for very popular 1/8th scale GT class. Made from world renowned EXP Rubber technology, the first one is their own tread tires which contains unique cavity middle tread design, which last longer than the conventional bar type treads while giving drivers maximum grip from every skid angle. The second set to come out will be their slick tire for prepped tracks, and is perfectly shaped for maximum forward bite as well as maximum cornering speed. Keep and eye out for more compounds and spoke wheels coming soon. Both types will also be available pre glued with inserts. Due late July 2010.

Nic Case aims for 200mph+ with the Streamliner

World record holder Nic Case was in touch to give us an update on his Streamliner build. The car seems to be coming along nicely, with the guys at Area 51 Design doing an great job with all of their support. Nic reckons that with all the input of experienced & talented individuals that the possibility of reaching 200mph with an R/C car is within reach. On August 15th, at Heartland park dragway they plan to find out if this beast can do it. Power is supplied by a 1521 Neu motor, 12 cell Power Edge LiPo battery, and the sophisticated power management of a Castle Creations speed controller. The Vulcanized tires are still being made and the body will be the same CFD developed one as last year. The gears are the finest made 32 pitch hardened steel version by RW, while the radio will be the Fasst System from Futaba.

The Jimmy Babcock Racing League kicked off the second half of the 2010 season at Pegasus Hobbies Saturday, July 3rd. A new layout was in place, and the track was nice and smooth needing to be watered throughout the day to ensure premium traction. Team Losi Racing team drivers Frank Root, Ryan Dunford, Casper Nielson, Aaron Lane, Keith Whisler and Michael Gonzales were all on hand to represent and support Team Losi Racing customers.

CRC have released this new carbon fibre flywheel tool for the Losi 8ight and 8ight-T. Now you can properly tighten the clutch nut on your flywheel without damaging the flywheel by using a set of pliers. Also new from CRC is their updated range of tube lube that has been re-worked, re-lubed, & re-loaded, with better packaging for less leaks, and more available weights including 5000, 10000, 20000 and 30000.

Practice for the 2010 EFRA 1:8 Off Road European Championship is complete and the more serious business of qualifying gets under way tomorrow here in Portugal. After two rounds of timed practice, drivers had one final, untimed run on the track, bringing Day 2 of the 30th running of the championships to a close.

New from Losi is their Digit pattern for 1/8th buggy which is now available in Losi’s exclusive red compound. The new multi-level pin design is a two stage square pin design that is supported by a large base pin and provides excellent wear. The tire is highly versatile as it works on multiple track conditions from loose and loamy conditions to hard pack blue groove tracks. Losi molded inserts are provided and known for their perfect balance and are very lightweight. The new Losi King Pin G2 is now also available in Losi’s exclusive red compound which works excellent on medium to high grip tracks and provides excellent wear. The new small square pin design provides immense traction on hard packed tracks, while the new center bar design provides increased forward traction. No pin is located between the center bar designs which allows for great forward drive, making out-of-the corner jumps much easier. Losi’s BK Bar proved to have incredible forward traction while maintaining great side bite with tremendous longevity and is now available for the 1/10th Off-road Truck class in pink, red, and silver compounds. The tire can be used on the front and rear of truck for optimum traction on hard packed surfaces. It is also available as a 1/10th 4wd front tire in red and pink compounds and has proven to smooth out steering going into the turn while offering improved forward traction on corner exit on hard packed surfaces.
