This past weekend was round three of the Monster Energy Series. Adam Drake set the TQ in both rounds of qualifying in the 1/8th buggy class with his Novarossi powered Losi 8ight 2.0 buggy. Mugen driver Colby Poh was second on the grid, followed by Matt Schreffler also with a Novarossi powered Losi 8ight 2.0. In the final Adam got off to a clean start and pulled away from the rest of the field eventually winning the twenty minute final by almost two laps. Andy Smolnik finished second running a Losi 8ight 2.0 and Xray driver Chad Nevlin finished third.
We have little or no information available on this new engine from Swiss company Team Orion, other than this is their new CRF 5-port buggy motor and it will be shipped to distributors this week. More information as we get it.

The first signs of a promising season ahead were seen last weekend when new Castle Creations signing Mark Stiles took 2nd place at the 2010 UK Micro X event. Mark was driving a long wheelbase LRP shark ST equipped with a Castle Creations Micro Pro speed controller and CM20 8000kV motor. Mark is the reigning British champion in the micro off road class, so was among the favorites coming into the event. On the day he lost out to 1/10th electric off road specialist Phil Sleigh, who was driving a pre-production version of Carisma’s new car. The wider track of Phil’s car compared to his competitors rides meant that he had a clear stability advantage over his rivals, and despite Mark managing to TQ the second round of qualifying, Phil was never really troubled on route to taking overall TQ and the A final victory. Mark had a close battle with fellow LRP Shark runner Andy Jones and eventually came out on top in what was a closely fought contest.
Thanks to Mark Stiles for the update.

Having won the European Indoor Championship from pole earlier this year, Ronald Volker has repeated the feat outdoors winning the second leg of A-Mains here in Aniche, France to regain the EFRA European Championships which he held in 2007. The German didn’t win by as convincing a margin as in the opening leg saying his LRP powered Yokomo BD5 was very loose but opening up a 2 second gap he was still able to control the race ahead of the Tamiya’s of Elliot Harper and Viktor Wilck.
