Lars Johnson does double at Colorado Nitro Series

The Colorado Nitro Series wrapped up its season last weekend, with the series consisting of two races at Rat Raceway in Denver, two races at Dirtworks in Burlington and two races at Colorado Springs Fast Track in Colorado Springs. Losi driver Lars Johnson had a great year in the Pro Truggy, he TQ’d and won three of the six rounds and had the overall win wrapped up before the 6th and final race. In the Pro Buggy class Lars and Dustin Evans battled in out until the end. Dustin was able to TQ the final race, however Lars was able to come back for a first place finish in the A-Main and take the overall title.

The Caliber takes tire technology to the next level by optimizing traction, control, balance, and tire wear with its dual-stage design. The smaller top pin penetrates through loose dirt while delivering unbelievable side and forward bite. The base pin works as a support for the top pin while acting as a dual-stage design once the top pin is worn down. You can rely on the base pin for greater tread life wear and it works well on those tracks that are prone to blue-groove or have a super clean surface. Also new, to work with Caliber SC and other SC tires, from Pro-Line is the the Split Six one piece wheel, whose design is the staple look of short course vehicles. Until now, it’s only been available in a 3 piece bead-loc design, but now it is offered in a lightweight one-piece glueable design that’s more affordable and completely performance driven.

2010 Snowbird Nationals – Update

2010 Snowbird Nationals - Announcement

The organizers of the 2010 Snowbird Nationals were in contact again to let everyone know that the 16th annual ‘Speed Week’ racing schedule is now posted. Featuring the first ‘RC Racing Golf Tournament’ and the first pre-race ‘Pool Party’ with band this year, both help kick off a great week of racing action. The ‘birds are 115 days away and the r/c world is counting down. Over 15 event sponsors are locked in and coming with their teams with more details to be finalized soon. Be sure to reserve your rooms now. Expect classes to be posted any day.

Protoform Type B & M F1 Retro shells

New from Protoform for the Tamiya F103 chassis are two new body shells, the Type B F1 Retro and the Type M F1 Retro shells. The re-released Type B body replicates one of the first F1 cars to be designed with a “high nose” and a suspended front wing. It turned out to be a championship winning car that influenced the design of many F1 cars since then. This body is made to fit the recently released Tamiya F103RM kit that’s equipped with the proper “high nose/wing” pieces. The Type M body replicates one of the most distinctive cars of an earlier era. It’s made to fit the ever popular Tamiya 103R F1 chassis and both body shells are pulled in .030 lexan and come with a protective film.

The Peak Racing brand returns

The Peak Racing brand returns

Kyosho America have announced the return of Peak Racing to North/South America. After a 2 year break they our now ready to re-launch the Peak Racing brand of World Championship winning power accessories. Peak Racing was founded decades ago by racers for racers and Peak Racing will continue this World Championship winning tradition. All Peak Racing products will be designed and tested in the USA by many of the previous Peak Racing staff assuring all of your electric racing needs will be met and surpassed. Kyosho America will begin taking orders and shipping all new Peak Racing products beginning Oct. 30 2009. The first month will include an ever growing battery line, followed up with electric motors, chargers and other electronics with the full launch line shipping by the end of this Holiday season.

UPDATE: Peak Racing founder Rick Hohwart wanted to clarify to us (see comments below) that he is not involved in the revival of the brand he started back in 1985, and subsequently left in 2007.
