Marco Baruffolo successful at Trofeo San Mauro

This past weekend the Autodromo Veggoplast RC track in San Mauro Torinese near Turin hosted the Trofeo San Mauro, attracting some of the region’s fastest drivers. Xray’s Marco Baruffolo took the TQ and also the win in the Nitro Buggy class as SWorkz’s Leonardo Valence and Xray’s Mauritio Fontanel came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Tessmann & Sorjonen win at Nitro Stampede

The 2020 Nitro Stampede Race was held in Calgary, Canada this past weekend, attracting over 90 entries. In the premier 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Ty Tessmann with the overall TQ and also the win in the 30-minute A-main event, leaving behind Carter Herasymiuk in 2nd, a lap down. Peter Toszer came in 3rd overall some two seconds behind Carter. In the E-Truggy class it was Rob Sorjonen with the overall TQ and also the wins in the opening two A-main for an early overall win. A3 winner, Britt Toszer came in 2nd overall from Mike Bridges in 3rd. Over in the 1/10th scale classes and in 2WD Buggy it was again Ty Tessmann with the overall TQ and win as Mark Hughes and A3 winner, Anthony Bond came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Coming from Hobbywing is their new QuicRun Fusion BL integrated speed controller 540-class motor for crawlers and trail trucks. The system combines a powerful 540-class brushless motor and with a multi-functional speed controller system in a single housing, ensuring a low weight and compact design. A selectable, intelligent torque and RPM control system maintains the torque and RPM level of the vehicle uphill, downhill, under load and in virtually every other condition, making vehicle control a lot simpler even in challenging terrains. The FOC Field-oriented Control system provided exceptional low-speed torque and control while ensuring super-silent motor action. In addition the system is IP-67 water and dust-proof for go-everywhere capabilities. Drag and parking brake functions as well as an electronic switch add to the impressive features list. Ethan Lefebvre doubles at Thornhill Champs Rd5

Round 5 of the Thornhill Championship series was held this past weekend with 85 entries for the nitro and electric off-road classes. Expert Nitro Buggy saw Ethan Lefebvre (Xray) with the overall TQ after the two rounds of qualifying and he also came out on top in the E-Buggy class despite struggling a bit in the opening qualifier. In the opening stages of the 20-minute A-main event Ethan’s car was hard to drive and he made a few mistakes after battling with Dillon Caldwell (HB Racing), however after the first fuel stop Ethan’s car felt normal again and he was able to put in clean laps till the end and take the win some 15 seconds in front of Brandon Rose (Agama) while Dillon Caldwell came in 3rd overall, another 7.2 seconds behind.

Exotek B6.2/B6.1 adjustable wheelie bar

Coming from Exotek and made for no-prep drag racing converted Team Associated B6.2 and B6.1 buggies is an adjustable carbon fibre wheelie bar. The wheelie bar extends from 9.5” to 11.75” to match race event rules and the longer bar gives more stability, for straighter and faster passes without needing to let off the throttle as often. Drivers are able to finely adjust the wheel height via the 4mm turnbuckle or make large adjustments by adding spacers under the wheel. The wheelie bar is made of heavy duty 3mm carbon fibre with alloy turnbuckles and mounts and the set includes a ball raced machined alloy wheel with oversized rubber O-ring tyre.

Matt Gonzales TQs & wins at JBRL Electric Series Rd1

The rescheduled round 1 of the 2020 JBRL 1/10 Electric Off-Road Series was hosted by Coyote Hobbies in Victorville, California this past weekend, attracting 180 entries. In the 13.5T 4WD Expert Buggy class it was Yokomo’s Matt Gonzales with the overall TQ and he would also dominate the single 6-minute A-main event, leaving behind Kamryn Ayers in 2nd, a lap down. 0.6 seconds behind Kamryn it was Doug Lariviere (Team Associated) who would round out the podium result.

Graham Alsop wins at Dirt Attack Rd2

The second round of the Dirt Attack series was hosted by the East Shrewsbury club in the UK. Graham Alsop took the win in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class, leaving behind Matt Box in 2nd, already two laps down. David Gibson came in 3rd over, some five seconds behind Matt.
