The city of Monsanto held the opening round of the Portuguese On-road Nationals last weekend. The good weather made for great racing conditions and in 1/10th Nitro Touring it was multi-time IFMAR World Champion, Bruno Coelho with the overall TQ and he also brought home the win in the A-main event, leaving behind Carlos Manuel in 2nd, some three laps behind. Fabian Ramos came in 3rd to round out the podium result.
SXT have introduced their new tire insert roller for 1/10th off-road tires. The tool was developed to break in the tire’s foam insert without having to actually use and wear the tire. To use the tool the wheel will be spun using a drill and the tyre is being pressed down on the rollers. The result is a proper seated insert that also already saw some action which can improve overall grip.
New from JConcepts is the F2I rear wing for 1/8th scale off-road buggies and trucks. F2I relates to Finnisher related items morphing into a 2nd generation and this new wing fits the bill perfectly. Adding the “I” relates to it being IFMAR competition legal in terms of its side-dams being large enough to comply with rules and procedure on the world-wide racing scene. Aerodynamics are quite the buzz and the design of the wing is rather traditional with a flat base. Across the width, the five individual dividers add straight-line stability and connects the upper and lower deck. Drop louvers on each side split the deck-height funneling air flow through the core and up to the gurney. The industry first design featuring a built-in gurney eliminates the need to add additional pieces, hardware or items which are clumsy. As with all JConcepts injection moulded wings, the side dams are recessed for decals to rest without being exposed directly across its plane. The offset decal plane also provides some stability to the highly impacted area and removes a slight about of weight. To make mounting easier, JConcepts has added a handy grid area underneath to help position the wing side to side and fore and aft for the utmost versatility. The wing is available in white, black and yellow colour.
Coming from MR33 and made by Raceberry is a 1-piece carbon fibre top deck for the Awesomatix A800FX FWD touring car. The upper deck is of an asymmetrical 1-piece design, making for different torsional flex characteristics compared to the original 2-piece assembly while an additional brace in front of the rear bulkhead stiffens the rear area which can be helpful in higher grip conditions. The top deck is available from now on.

The fasteners, intended for the use in the lower areas of the chassis, are precision made from high-quality brass material and due to being heavier than standard steel screws, they help to lower the overall centre of gravity of a car while adding a certain weight. Available are a 52-piece kit for the Xray T4’20, a 39-piece kit for the Xray X1’20, a 59-piece kit for the Awesomatix A800MMX, a 54-piece kit for the Awesomatix A800FX, a 51-piece kit for the Serpent SF4 and a 44-piece kit for the ARC R11F. Also available are 8-piece sets of M3x5mm, M3x10mm and M3x12mm countersunk head screws.

The opening round of the Uruguayan Off-road Championship was held at the fast and super technical San Jose de Mayo track recently. Due to the track being new it changed it nature throughout the day permanently and in the end it was Xray’s Nicolas Bregante who made the best out of it by taking the win in the Nitro Buggy class from Javier Biurrum (Xray) in 2nd and Nicolas Demicheri (Mugen) in 3rd.

Schumacher have introduced the new Penguin Dart body shell for the Cougar Laydown 2WD buggy. The new body is specifically designed for low profile LiPos, ideally 22.5mm and below, and thanks to the body’s low and sleek design it offers a lower centre of gravity and cool new looks. It includes overspray film, window masks and Penguin decals and it is available in a standard or lightweight variant.
Mugen have introduced their new muffler stopper for their MRX and MTX series of nitro on-road cars. The machined aluminium stopper will make for additional fixing of the exhaust pipe, ensuring the pipe will not come off during a run. The stopper is usable with most on-road exhaust pipes and it includes a grub screw.
