Chad Due does double at Labor Day Challenge

This last weekend Clark RC Park held its 3rd Annual Labor Day Challenge with some of the top drivers in the midwest showcasing their skills. The short course classes saw Chad Due and Matt Sunderlage battle it out through two rounds of qualifying to see who would start the main from the top spot with Chad Due edging out Sunderlage in both the 2WD and 4×4 class. With the mains underway Chad Due checked out on the 2WD Short Course class and never looked back taking the win in 2WD with Matt Sunderlage taking 2nd place and Adrian Veach in 3rd. 4X4 Short Course had hard racing the entire main with Matt Sunderlage taking the holeshot and leading the three laps. Chad Due took the lead and Matt was never able to get back by the Associated 4X4 giving the win to Chad Due and second place to Matt Sunderlage. Young Cole Tollard put in a strong showing taking home the third position.

Scott Brown & Billy Fischer win Short Course Nationals

RC Madness in Enfield, CT is the designated host for the annual Short Course Nationals. The 3rd annual event brought out many of the best drivers in the East along with drivers coming in from as far as Arizona and Washington. Changing conditions were a major factor because of Hurricane Irene traveling up the east coast of the United States. Friday’s open practice session was in clear weather as drivers tuned their Short Course trucks to the track’s conditions.

Munn & Rode win at Great Snake Shootout

Venom Factory Pilot, Jesse Munn, put on a show with his Gambler SC Truck at the Great Snake Shootout in Lewiston, ID by taking TQ and the win in Pro Modified SC after the Triple A Mains against some stiff competition. Munn battled it out with factory pilots from Associated and Kyosho. Local driver Pat Rode piloted his Gambler SC Truck, powered by Venom batteries, to the win in the Sportsman SC class.

Felix Law wins 4wd SC at Surf City Classic

This past weekend Orange County Radio Control Raceway (OC/RC) held their 4th Annual Surf City Classic. This year was the biggest turnout in the history of the event with 310 entries. Big time players were in attendance at this year’s event, including JConcepts Team Drivers, Steven Hartson, Brian Kinwald, Josh Numan, Jake Thayer, Zack Rogers, Jimmy Barnett and from Florida, Felix Law. Track conditions were amazing all weekend. It took 3-4 runs to get the JConcepts Gold Compound Bar Codes, the tire of choice for most, to break in. There was talk in the pits of the track going to slicks and it surely did by the time qualifying was coming to an end and main events began. Felix Law ended the weekend with 1st Place in the Short Course 4×4 class. Felix’s Losi SCT-E was covered with JConcepts all weekend including the newly released Raptor X-Flow body, Bar Codes tires in gold compound, JC Profiled closed cell inserts, mounted on Rulux wheels.

Short Course Showdown Rd3 report

Round 3 of the Short Course Showdown Nation Wide Tour was held at West Coast RC. Racers from California, Nevada, Arizona and Florida attended to enjoy the fun that is Short Course racing. The SC Showdown is all about the fun that SC racing has brought to the hobby. The race program is run different than most normal races as we run heads up racing in the qualifiers and do bump ups in all classes for the mains. Since we were in Southern California it was no question we would have some factory drivers attending the event and put on a great show and we were not disappointed. Names like Kinwald, Truhe, Hartson,Thielke, Root, Wachter and others joined in the fun.

Kinwald & Hartson win at Short Course Showdown Rd3

The third leg of the Short Course Showdown series stopped at West Coast R/C Raceway in La Mirada, CA, this past weekend, just a few miles from many of the top manufacturers in the world. Team Associated sent out Steven Hartson, Brian Kinwald, Clint Wachter, Jonny Wachter, Sean Cochran and Team Manager Brent Thielke to represent and compete for the titles. With other top pros from multiple companies in attendance, the event was stacked with a deep level of talent.

McEwan wins Canadian Off-Road Champs Rd2

The 2nd round of the Canadian off-road championship series (CORCS) was held over the weekend of August 5-6-7th, in Coquitlam, British Columbia Canada. Team Durango’s DESC410R took the 4WD short course A-Main in the hands of Norm McEwan, with Kris Bychyk placing his DESC410R in 2nd place for a 1-2 finish – beating out a large field in the 4WD class. Both guys ran their DESC410R’s with the Tekin RX8 controllers and Tekin 4.5T SC4X motors to sweep the field.

ROAR Region 11 electric off-road championships

The 2011 ROAR Region 11 Electric Off-Road Championships were held at Dave’s R/C Raceway in Hubbard, OR this past weekend. Drivers from across the North-West made the trip out for this event and the final entry count reached 135. The race schedule saw the open practice on Friday with three Rounds of five minute qualifiers for each class on Saturday, a final five minute qualifying run on Sunday followed by six minute lower main bump ups, and six minute Triple A-Mains. Each driver’s two best rounds out of four would count toward their overall qualifying order. Then the top eight drivers would go straight into the A-Main, with two cars would bump from the lower main into the A-Main for a ten car field.
