New from Lee Martin’s LMR brand is this brass bulkhead for the Tamiya 201X. Used to help Lee win the 2011 European championship and make the IFMAR worlds A main, it adds 35g of weight over the front end. The block uses utlises plastic inserts to reduce wear and make maintenance less costly.

Matrix Tyres in Italy have confirmed that they have re-signed Swedish International racer Alexander Hagberg for the 2012 season. The Xray driver has been running these tires since the start of his career in nitro racing. “The quality and standard has always been perfect. They have been market leaders especially after the introduction of the very stiff and lightweight carbon rims. For next year I will use Matrix Tires also in the 1/12 class. My first race with those tires will be the 2012 Snowbirds in Orlando, Florida.”

Pro-Line and Protoform have released a number of new t-shirts to increase their range of merchandising. Pro-Line have released updated 2012 versions of their Bulldog body for the Hot Bodies D8 and D8T developd by Ty Tessmann. Ty personally spent hours refining the design for 2012 to create even more stability with enhanced steering to gain an advantage on the track. The windshield is steeper to create more down force over the front wheels and the roof ridges have been raised to channel the air flow over the middle of the body for increased high-speed stability. The rear of the roof has been lowered and fins have been added to achieve maximum engine head cooling and stable air flow over the body. The fins also add rigidity to the body to increase aerodynamic efficiency. Additionally on the truggy shell the hood has been raised slightly to allow more clearance for a longer shock setup and the headlights and grill have been redesigned.

The organisers the 2012 Dirt Nitro Challenge in Arizona were in touch to tell us about this great event which will be run from the 22nd to the 26th of the February. Being held at the Fear Farm RC Raceway in Phoenix, AZ, the event attracts the best offroad drivers in the World and this year will be no exception. This event is open to both gas & electric 1.8th buggy as well as truggy, short course and 1/5th buggy/truck, with the latter running on a separate track. The event starting on Wednesday the 22nd of February for practice and runs through to Sunday the 26th for the buggy mains. The JConcepts Clash held its 5th annual event in Coral Springs, FL last weekend. Since 2007 The Clash has brought a one of a kind event to Florida that produces an experience like none other for competitors and manufacturers alike. For the 2011 edition, drivers were greeted by an amazing track surface on Thursday’s practice session which produced the fastest lap-times down into the sub 23 second lap range. The race was dominated by two drivers Ryan Maifield and Joern Neumann who took 3 and 2 class wins respectively.
Thunder Alley RC Raceway got in touch to tell us that the GRRS (Grass Roots Racing Series) is in its 3rd year and with the great success last year, with average attendance of 160 entries per event, they have made some tweaks to please the racers and make the race days more enjoyable. Saturday dates will be ran with only Short Course trucks & buggies racing, while Sundays will be the Nitro classes & 1/8 E-Buggy racing. Doing this will shorten up each race day and allow for some added skill levels & classes on both days
